This week's Australian election proves its people can Fight The Hypnocracy and win. Despite overwhelmingly negative coverage of progressive opposition parties - Labor, Green, and Teal - across all media segments and outlets, these factions have just won control over both houses of federal parliament with huge majorities.
The conservatives - who paradoxically call themselves "Liberal" in Australia - outspent and out-promised progressives 10:1 in advertising. Conservative pork-barreling local communities and special interests was also roughly ten times usual. Yet today conservative parliamentary numbers have been roughly halved with swings against them in many seats of over 10%.
How did Australian progressives achieve this? First, the electorate were galvanized by unprecedented climate change, with this year's rainfall in Sydney alone set to triple the yearly average. The conservative government was dominated by an arrogant leader who grew so deeply unpopular most of his party sought to campaign without him. And feedback forums attached to the hypnocratic media organized focused and informed criticism against the conservative propaganda.
Australia also has a built-in advantage in its electoral system. It uses preferential voting so voters can number independents and progressive parties first, yet still have their votes count for the more mainstream opposition if their first choices get eliminated. This system also relies on human counting with multiple counts conducted so it is almost impossible to rig.
