Two years ago CNN released a photo taken by the photographer Anil Prabhakar in the forest in Indonesia. The image shows an orangutan, currently under threat of extinction, while stretching out his hand to help a geologist who fell into a mud pool during his search. When the photographer uploaded the photo, he wrote this as a caption: “In a time when the concept of humanity dies, animals lead us to the principles of humanity.”

Your voices are being heard!!! The Age reports that 'In a move likely to be applauded by environmentalists but face questions from developers' the NSW Environment Minister is 'ON THE VERGE of rewriting the previous government’s Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan, stripping back housing development in a bid to fast track and extend protection of koala populations in Sydney’s south-west'.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not signed off, but is a step in the right direction. Also, this protection strip DOES NOT include our Mt Gilead population of chlamydia-free koalas, so we still need more signatures and emails!

LETTER to Humphries & Pliberesk:
TO: [email protected], [email protected], , [email protected],
Dear Mr Humphries & Minister Plibersek,
Please enforce legislation for regulated koala corridors and conserve the national park bushland that that hugs the Georges River and ensure there are corridors from Wollondilly to Hawkesbury,. This is crucial for the survival of the last chlamydia free colony of endangered koalas in NSW and the many other threatened species that reside in this development and in the Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan bushland.
Pockets of bushland reserves is not a solution and will not work. It will condemn our endangered koalas to death by roadkill when migrating, starvation, fighting for survival and chlamydia.
Without this legislation the Australian Government is killing these Koala’s and pushing the our population of Koala’s to extinction.
