Reviews are in for the quoll-ity academic reference, Evolution of Dasyurid Marsupials 🐾
"Aimed at those with a good conceptual understanding of biology, this comprehensive book tells the story of dasyurid evolution, making strong use of phylogenetic trees as a hypothesis of the evolutionary relationships between species, whilst recognising that the study of evolution is an integrative science drawing from many expert perspectives." Wildlife Health Australia
"There is something for everyone in this book, from fossils, multi-gene phylogenies, biogeography, reproductive biology, human impacts and species level accounts, the authors have covered just about everything on the subject." The Australian Mammal Society Newsletter
This tome provides a comprehensive synthesis of dasyurid evolutionary biology for students, teachers and researchers in mammalian evolution and marsupial biology.

An echidna's unexpected feast surprises researchers. 🦔🥚
A team of scientists has documented a new native predator of freshwater turtle eggs in Australian Journal of Zoology.
Echidnas were caught on camera feasting on eggs in the Fitzroy, Burnett and Mary Catchment areas in Queensland.
"We have assumed for a very long time that the echidna is purely insectivorous, but this certainly busts that knowledge."
This is bad news especially for the vulnerable Fitzroy River turtle and the critically endangered white-throated snapping turtle, which have both suffered substantial loss of eggs from this depredation.
