The CAPRICORNIA FILM AWARDS are a bold new initiative from the Darwin International Film Festival to showcase the best film, television and video productions being created IN the Northern Territory or BY Territorians. The Darwin Film Society set a new record attendance of 53,446 in 2021.

High Ground, the Best Picture winner from Capricornia contributed 2,989 to that number as the highest attended film for the year - congratulations Director Stephen Johnson and the team.

Another well deserved win for the HIGH GROUND team - the BEST PERFORMANCE IN FICTION award was presented to Jacob Junior Nayinggul!

In the highly competitive best feature category the Judges picked the powerful HIGH GROUND. Shot on location in Arnhem Land this stunning film represents decades of work from Director Stephen Johnson.

ANKA - Arnhem Northern & Kimberley Artists, Aboriginal Corporation sponsored the best feature award - ANKA representative Belinda Foster presented the award to Director Stephen Johnson, Lead Actor Jacob Junior Nayinggul, Actor/Producer Witiyana Marika and Producer Maggie Miles.
