Whoop whoop 🙌 Queenie is the PBS 106.7FM Melbourne feature album this week! Listen in for tunes and giveaways. ‘New Moult’ out this Friday!

This week’s PBS Feature Album is Queenie's debut LP, 'New Moult'. Queenie’s complexity, vulnerability and emotional depth shines through as she bares her heart and soul across the eleven tracks of this impeccable release.

Featuring her highly praised 2024 singles ‘Not Divine’, ‘Mama’ and ‘Everything Sucks’, 'New Moult' explores heartbreak, family dynamics, coping mechanisms and self image, as Queenie dismantles her experience navigating the world as an imperfect young woman.

Tune in all this week to hear tracks from New Moult, and check out this week's full list of PBS Feature Sounds on our website:

She looks up to the top right of the image, where we've inserted a Feature Album sticker. There are exaggerated tears pouring from Queenie's eyes.]

Van Walker returns from his award-winning album GHOSTING (2020) with HEALING DESCENT (2024), ten personally powerful songs written around the spring of the first major lockdown (2020).

“Another effortless classic album.” ~ Mick Thomas
Recorded in just four days during a break on a Canadian tour last year, Van took the opportunity to team up again with mate and multi-instrumentalist Chris Altmann to produce Healing Descent, due out on Cheersquad Records & Tapes October 2024.

"Van’s songs are like messages from an unearthly time: beyond our modern tropes. I wanna live in that time." Tim Rogers
Having just toured Ireland and Canada, playing international festivals such as Ireland's Fleadh Festival to Australia's Port Fairy and Dashville Skyline, Van has been described as "One of the finest songwriters in the country" (Jeff Lang), and since joining The Ferriters they "have risen rapidly to be one of the best acts on the Irish-Australian scene." (Koroit Irish Festival)

"Poetic and elemental. Van's in his Nature Boy era and I'm here for it! After the changes and stresses we've all been through collectively over the last few years, this record feels like meditation." Ella Hooper

Van returns to The Brunswick Ballroom with a full band including Josh Duiker, Mick Stylianou, Chelsea Stewart, Dan Musil and producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Altmann (The Vandas/Que Paso) with support from Amarillo Band (in trio form) and Blown Cones.

It's a matinee show with doors at 12.30pm. Tickets available now through Moshtix

OUT TODAY - SMOKED SALMON - HOW DID THEY EVER MANAGE/SLIDER ST 7" VINYL SINGLE

Fronted by Aus music legend Kim Salmon, Smoked Salmon is a concept, a collection of recordings, a collective, a philosophy of least resistance flowing from a reputation for resolutely going against the stream! Wait a minute! Least resistance? Against the stream? Here’s the clincher. You can do both! Kim still has the desire to go upstream but has found a great source of new repertoire fishing in the streams from whence such classics as "Frantic Romantic", "Last Night", "Dropout", "Come On Spring" and "Swampland" sprang!

With Smoked Salmon, Kim has a new album of material that sits seamlessly alongside ‘the old stuff you love’ (from The Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon, Surrealists and Antenna), all lovingly assembled and performed by an international cast.

Dimi Dero; Delphine Ciampi; Sylvain Philipon; Todd Pickett; Jozeph Grech; Claire Birchall; Douglas Galbraith; Myles Mumford; Finn Keane; Sam Worrad; Jeffery Baker and Jeff Ho**er all come together to create an episode in the musical adventure of Kim Salmon’s life. An episode that you miss at your own peril!

This episode begins with the Cheersquad release 7” single of "How Did They Ever Manage" b/w "Slider St.", which is released today digitally and on limited edition pink salmon 7" vinyl (100 only) and black 7" vinyl. It will be launched at PERSA , Fitzroy on 30 August with guests Money For Rope and Hearts and Rockets.

Rudely Interrupted issue “Christine” the tender new single out now on Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

On “Christine”, Rudely interrupted exercise their dreamy, sweet-toothed pop rock jangle, sound tracking the flush of a first-time love. The band’s co-founder Rohan Brooks considers “Christine”, “a song about your first love when all the hormones are firing, you feel giddy and your head just can't keep up with the emotions, they say you never forget your first love, hey...”

Check out "Christine" here
https://rudelyinterrupted.bandcamp.com/track/christine

Rudely Interrupted have become trailblazers in the differently abled arts space, creating awareness and opening doors for other acts in their community to embrace their uniqueness. “We’re here to help change the landscape for artists with disability, we can’t hide our disability, so we go in loud and proud. We know many who have and do hide their challenges if they can. Some are coming out with their story, and we feel like we’re the one of the artists who’ve helped pave the way for that to happen.”

Cheersquad Records & Tapes are thrilled to announce the new single and video from prolific and celebrated Tasmanian songwriter, Van Walker.

Have a listen here

Check out the video here:
https://youtu.be/XaTXT5MsMEc

Hear about it straight from Van:

"❄️ Winter's almost gone and I'm very excited to debut the lead single - 'Winter's Last Words' - from my forthcoming album 'Healing Descent', recorded in Canada last year with Chris Altmann and Carl Jennings at West Moreland Studios, Hamilton. A song about change the necessity of moving forward, even from much needed periods of downtime and learning.

There's a line by Haruki Murakami "We Cannot Simply Sit and Stare at Our Wounds Forever."

Thanks to my dear friends Nick O'mara and Jaqueline Tonks for filming me in my wintery lair (anyone recognise it?) My guitar is a bit crook, but how cute is little Bertie? 🐶

Cheersquad Records and Tapes are exhilarated to announce the upcoming album from the Hard-Ons - Official 'I Like You A Lot Getting Older'.
Out on October 4, 2024 and available for pre-order now.

'I Like You A Lot Getting Older' is available on limited edition (100 only) clear vinyl with orange smoke 12" vinyl, limited edition (100 only) clear vinyl with blue smoke 12" vinyl, limited edition (100 only) clear vinyl with pink smoke 12" vinyl, black vinyl and digitally.
Also, for a limited time while stocks last, there are bundles with t-shirts available – check them out on our Bandcamp page.
https://cheersquadrecordstapes.bandcamp.com/album/i-like-you-a-lot-getting-older

The current incarnation of the Hard-Ons, Blackie, Ray, Murray and perpetual newbie Tim have covered a lot of bases on their two albums to date (2021's ARIA top 5 debuting 'I'm Sorry Sir, That Riff's Been Taken' and last year's the Top 30 debuting 'Ripper '23'), but the suggestion this time is the album is heavy on the pop. The sort of pop that can cause hearing problems that is - the Hard-Ons wouldn't have it any other way.

"I Like You A Lot Getting Older' clips you around the ears and showcases a band in their 40th year with no intention of slowing down.

Along with the new album, the Hard-Ons are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a European tour, Australian tour and feature length documentary film 'The Most Australian Band Ever'.

Cheersquad Records & Tapes are thrilled to announce that pre-orders are now available for the brand new Smoked Salmon single 'How Did They Ever Manage'.
‘Smoked Salmon’ was begging to be used! Kim Salmon had been ignoring it for decades but finally gave in after being called on for a benefit for the Firefighters at the start of 2020. Smoked Salmon came to be the players stationed over in the west, in France, up in NSW and handy in his hometown Melbourne whenever he needed a band. And who doesn’t need a band? He could play shows most anywhere! He could even take an ensemble into a studio under the banner of Smoked Salmon - which he eventually did.

'How Did They Ever Manage' is available from 23 August 2024 on limited edition pink salmon 7" vinyl (100 only), black 7" vinyl and digitally. Secure your copy here:
