We went down to the mouth of the McArthur River to target big Barramundi. The theory was to spot the fish on the sounder then target them by trolling big lures over them.

After 3 or 4 hours of doing this with no luck, and in 40 degree Northern Territory heat, we went back to our old habits… which is casting lures at snags, creeks and gutters.

We were rewarded with a couple of small fish straight away.

By the end of the video, we had both landed legal fish.

Good to see Ash repping the Gulf Mud Crabbers trucker cap while catching up with our local member to announce some very, very exciting news for King Ash Bay!!

Fantastic news for King Ash Bay with Telstra’s recent announcement.

Under Round 7 of the Mobile Blackspot Program, King Ash Bay will be receiving a new Macrocell Tower for the community and surrounding area.

This morning, I met with Ashley Garner, the President of the King Ash Bay Fishing Club to share the news and thank him for his ongoing support and advocacy to secure this important infrastructure for the region.

Connectivity is more important than ever for people visiting or living at King Ash Bay and this will help our locals and visitors to stay connected every day of the week.

Thanks to Telstra and the Australian Government for supporting this project.

Great trip from Camooweal to Winton today. Met some awesome people in the towns along the way, starting with a few legends in Mt Isa! Thank you everyone for the support.

Tomorrow (Monday) we move on to Longreach, Barcaldine, Emerald and all the other towns along the way. I know there are some top notch bakery’s to visit tomorrow. So keep an eye on my stories for some meat pie reviews!!

If you've been riding this wave with me for more than a couple of years, then this episode is going to feel like you've gone back in time. Back to when it was just me, solo on my boat Flanders... Wrestling with fish and battling my own clumsiness.

Took my young fella, Artie out on the McArthur River today. He insisted we check the crab pots after they had been in the water for about 12 minutes. To my surprise there was actually a crab already in the first pot!

He told me it was too small and we had to “chuck him back.” 🫣🦀

It was the last fishing competition of the year at King Ash Bay Fishing Club Inc before the wet season. A two day comp, with cash and prizes up for grabs. I entered the comp and fished solo for the two days. Follow me through the lows and the highs of this awesome weekend in the Gulf of Carpentaria. I was out bush this arvo. Did some land based fishing. Caught no fish of course… but when I walked back to the car and the sun was setting behind the pandanus, I was reminded why I love the Northern Territory so much.

I met these two young fellas, Trey and Kain tonight. They head back home to Bundaberg tomorrow after spending an unforgettable week here at King Ash Bay Fishing Club Inc.

Behind the scenes of every episode is countless hours of footage. But not all of it makes the final cut. Whether it's due to audio quality issues, dim lighting, or simply not exciting enough. 90% of footage is never seen by you guys, my viewers.

Let me take you back to November, where I drove 3,000km to spend a week with my mates at King Ash Bay in the Gulf of Carpentaria. It was a great trip with loads of great fish landed.

After returning home, I delved into the footage, only to find myself uninspired by the way I had documented the trip. I made the tough decision not to transform it into a full episode.

About 20 hours of footage. And a lot of hard work... wasted.

But today I was going back through the footage again. And although it's not worthy of a full episode, I stumbled upon some hidden gems within the footage.

This short snippet is one of them...

Congratulations to Cooper for your win. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family last night. 🤠👍🏼

Young Cooper has travelled all the way up to King Ash Bay from NSW for the school holidays and was lucky enough to land himself a fish off the bank in front of his camp. That fish was the biggest Pelagic weighed in for the week. Usually that would win you a drink voucher for Gropers bar but being a big Mikey Cunningham Fishing fan Mikey hooked young Cooper up with a Gulf Mud Crabbers hat for his efforts.

Good work Cooper, tight lines mate.

Some of the highlights from my latest episode. It was a 2 day adventure to Wiyibi Fishing & Wilderness Lodge, which is located on North Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

We fluked a break in the weather... the days before and after this trip were very windy. So we made the most of the beautiful conditions and spent some time out fishing and coming home with some great catches.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this such an enjoyable trip.
