Well done to Bangor Vineyard for snapping up a gold medal for the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards and putting Tasmania on the map once again.

About last night.......we've done it again!
At the Australian Tourism Awards in Darwin ( you can tell by the photo prop....) we won GOLD 🥇 in the wineries, breweries & distilleries category.
This is a huge achievement for our little family business, and we are so proud.
It's a real testament to our hard working Bangor team who deliver for our guests day after day. Also to our team on the farm and in the vineyard who look after this special part of the world that is Bangor.
To our local community, and suppliers of seafood, cheese, milk, salad, chocolate and so much outstanding produce, this is for you as well.
The Tasmanian tourism industry is incredibly supportive and collaborative, and we are fortunate to partner with so many other amazing Tassie operators, including some of the other finalists last night.
And to our families, thankyou for your support over the Bangor journey.
And of course our guests, who visit us from near and far to share our stories, wine, food and view, a huge thanks. We're 10 years old this year, and excited for the next 10!!

A Labor government will provide funding of $500,000 for the construction of a purpose built home for the Sorell Men’s Shed and the Lions Club of Sorell.

The new multi-purpose facility will be located adjacent to Pembroke Park off Montague Street and will also support the Dodges Ferry Riding Club with new storage space, canteen facilities and meeting room.

Labor Leader Rebecca White joined Mayor Kerry Vincent to make the announcement which will allow land close to the centre of Sorell where the Men’s Shed and the Lions Club currently operate to be redeveloped into an exciting cultural and arts precinct.

"These important service clubs give so much to our community and it is important we invest in them to ensure they can continue to thrive into the future,” Ms White said.

"This new purpose built facility will mean the Sorell Men’s Shed, the Sorell Lions Club and the Dodges Ferry Riding Club will benefit from new amenities and meeting rooms to support their important community building work. It will also allow the Men’s Shed to have a safe and functional workshop that will allow them to expand their membership.

"This is a priority project for the Sorell Council who want to support the region’s volunteer organisations and make sure they have a fit for purpose home.

"Labor’s commitment will allow the land where the Men’s Shed and Lions Club now operate from to be redeveloped to support the Council’s vision to restore the old Sorell Railway station to create a new cultural and arts precinct."
