It's been a quiet Autumn and start to winter. I've been busy in my garden working on the Autumn and winter planting. I found this video on my hard drive from LAST year, but the footage was too nice not to share, so here it is. Watch for footage of Kangaroo's and adorable Joeys, Lyrebirds, cats in the garden, and a girl in a witches hat goofing around with some leaves. Anyone want to shoot a project with me? I've got time and inspiration to spare at the moment :)

Very satisfying Sunday harvest! Turnips, sprouting broccoli, a bonus mushroom, and a couple of peas. And of course this might be the best Savoy cabbage I’ve ever grown!

A flower for your sunday evening! I hope you had a good weekend. This is another wonderful low maintenance flower. Our Azelia bushes have been here for years and are very hardy. We even split up, pruned back and transplanted a sick one recently and it's coming back stronger than ever. I'm not usually a pink lover but the sight of a bush covered in blooms of any colour is always a lovely sight to behold.

I think it’s time to figure out what to do with too much choko… any tips? 🤣 🌱

Would you like to learn how to make pickled cucumbers? I've just posted a video going through how I made them this summer. It was my first time so there was definitely some learning experiences had which I detail in the video. But I now have about 30 jars to enjoy over the course of the year before I can do it all again next summer! The video is certainly not your usual how to make pickles format. More an introverts aesthetic experiment... but hey, I'm feeling out these processes in many ways at the moment. Let me know what you think?

A poppy post for ANZAC day, though I haven’t got a photo of a red one in my library. In Australia we recognise the red poppy as the flower of remembrance of war. I looked up why and It was apparently one of the first flowers to bloom across the wasted battlefields of northern France and Belgium in WWI and became a symbol over time from there. I love how a beautiful flower has become such a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect for our fallen soldiers.

I’ve never grown poppies myself. This one is from my godparents garden a few years ago.

Here's a cute little cucumber flower from a few weeks ago. They're really dying back now as the weather cools down, but there's still a couple on the vine. Thankfully the huge harvests have stopped which means i've had a break from constant pickle making. I've finally had time to edit the video I filmed on making pickles! It's certainly been a learning experience. Stay tuned for that sometime next week. Have you ever made pickles?

It's Easter and the sun is shining! How wonderful. These busy bee's have been out and about in the breaks between the rain. I caught several enjoying the flowers on the Choko vine. It's our first time growing it, planted last year, we're finally getting the first fruit! Hopefully a good perennial addition to our food forest which will feed us for years to come. We've got lots coming and have already started adding them to our stirfrys. Have you ever eaten one? How would you describe it?

A quiet contemplation on how the weather can affect our moods and how I try to practice a mindset of gratitude. With that in mind IT MIGHT BE SUNNY OVER EASTER! how exciting is that?

Here's a pretty flower for your Sunday morning! Dahlia's are such a wonderful low maintenance flower. Stick the bulb in a sunny spot and it will come back year after year. Which is excellent since I've been focusing all my energy on food production gardening lately. This variegated one is my favourite in our garden and still going ok despite all the rain!

Thankyou to everyone for your kind words and encouragement on my recent videos. It's been a long time since I've felt this glorious drive to capture and create for my own enjoyment. It feels good to just be doing it for myself but of course the support, encouragement and validation is a huge confidence booster!
If you didn't catch the you tube video I posted last week. Here's the link again https://youtu.be/A_ZOSABkbCY
It's still very soggy here but it was lovely so see the sunshine briefly...
I haven't stopped filming around the property so there's more videos brewing. Slowly taking shape... Is there anything you'd like to see/see more of?

It's been a minute since I've posted anything here. I've been feeling quite helpless and troubled about the state of the world. We are living through the climate crisis, it's happening now and people are just living life as normal. But what can one person do? So after several months of feeling like I wanted to curl up into a ball and renounce the world, this is what has come out. https://youtu.be/A_ZOSABkbCY

I did the only thing I could to channel my feelings, I created. This summer my garden has become my artistic expression, and I'd like to start sharing more of my journey into permaculture and sustainable living through this account. I am so blessed to be able to live where I do, I am determined not to waste it.
So consider this an announcement of a re-alignment in this account's content. If you like gardens, enjoying the beauty of nature, or want to learn along with me then please stick around and enjoy the fresh air.

This kind of self talk so often gets in my way whenever I have an idea to do something creative. Making this series was actually very therapeutic! 🤪
