Remediation works to protect the eroding riverbanks of the Williams River are well underway, and Hunter Water is utilising repurposed materials for the project.

The first package of stabilisation works used more than 1400 sustainably sourced hardwood logs secured from major infrastructure and land development projects. Through a close collaboration with Transport for NSW and its construction partners, John Holland-Gamuda Australia Joint Venture and Seymour Whyte, most of the logs have been sourced from the nearby M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace project.

SA Water has released a new water security response plan for the Eyre Peninsula, which will provide a framework to safeguard the region’s drinking water supplies and help customers save water.

The utility said that rebates on the purchase of new water-efficient appliances are a key feature of the plan, which outlines four water security response levels and actions based on drinking water availability – ranging from normal water availability to an extreme water shortage.
