The apple 🍏 doesn’t fall far from the tree! Daughter, Rosie has some new artwork 🖼️ up on her website, From Paddock to Paint - and using art to convey our connection to animals in food systems. She turns 21 this month and I’m utterly proud of her and my son Charlie who has supported her all her life despite being the ‘little brother’. Go kids! (Barbara Gordon - I’m not referencing you!)

#3 Brand Economics. This week's Agency blog article; Cracking the Code on Brand Management Principles and Strategies for a Competitive Advantage. So do you just have a logo or a fully functioning brand?

In today's fiercely competitive market, establishing a robust brand presence is imperative for businesses striving to capture market share and create long-term success.

Welcome to our snapshot guide on brand economics, where we delve into the broader insights into how brands create real value across many metrics by influencing consumer behaviour and driving business performance.

#2 Inclusion Economics. This week, Agency guest blogger Graeme Innes AM shares his top 10 reasons why enhanced website accessibility is good for business.

"One of your main aims as a marketer for your website is 'click through'. I see a weblink on social media, think that is interesting, and click the link. But then I encounter the things that make me leave your website as fast as I arrived.” - Graeme Innes

Think of your website as your business's digital shopfront, serving as the gateway to your brand, products and services. Are you ensuring a distinct and satisfying 'user experience' for all potential customers, or leaving them frustrated and searching for your competitors?

#1 Behavioural Economics. Let's delve into the psychology of the 'herd mentality' with our guest blogger James West. These behavioural insights are crucial in crafting effective brand identities, advertising and sales campaigns.

James is an experienced executive specialising in large transformation programs globally, integrating his therapist, coach, and facilitator skills into his approach.

Marketing is often referred to as a 'dark art', but effective communication is all about understanding human tendencies, and we're sure you'll find this article he wrote for us fascinating!

Poet John Donne's quote, 'No man is an island,' underscores societal influence, that individuals often underestimate the sway of cultural norms and collective behaviours.

In our incredibly individualistic culture, we tend to think we're immune to the effects of the herd. But whether conforming to road and tax rules, political beliefs, or even avoiding danger, herd behaviour permeates society at all levels.

For example, imagine you're in a lift and four people enter and stand facing the wall with their backs to the door. Do you then face the lift doors, or slowly pivot and face the wall?

Experienced creatives understand behavioural economics and leverage these methods to design the most effective targeted strategies with compelling visual and written language that resonate with and influence diverse audiences.

Is your marketing informed by these methods? Our specialist Agency team has the skills to take your business to the next level. See all on our website, or reach out and let's start an inclusive conversation.

Centuries before the ‘invention’ of psychology, the poet John Donne already understood an important principle of psychology, it is not just us who influences society, society also influences us. In many surprising ways, our behaviour is governed by what everyone else around us is doing.

As Autism Month rolls on, so does our ‘Be Open to Autism’ campaign bus advertising.
The social impact campaign we developed with Autism Tasmania needed to reach people beyond their digital devices and engage with them while going about their everyday lives.

Outdoor media is a highly effective ‘out of home’ communication method that captures people's attention in an immediate and impactful way, and bus advertising is relatively unavoidable, moving or stationary.

Other options include mobile billboards, digital screens, targeted posters, car decals and fixed signage.

So as part of our integrated media strategy, we collaborated with GoTransit Media Group Tasmania to achieve the highest exposure in terms of locations and travel routes, as well as the production and placement of the striking creative approach on the buses themselves.

As the photos depict, Metro buses were used in Hobart, Devonport, Burnie and Launceston to carry the campaign illustration-style imagery of people experiencing the world in full colour and promoting Autism Tasmania’s message for us all to embrace diverse minds and be open to Autism.

Appreciation from satisfied clients is the ultimate reward...
“We were thrilled to work with Inclusive Creatives on branding for our growing company. They were able to review and distil the essence of our brand to create a contemporary look that accurately reflected our unique style while consolidating our branding for use across multiple platforms. They took time to get to know our company image and delivered a high-end product that we are rolling out across our clinics and online.” – Dr Clair McCartney.

Industry leading Sanctum Medical Aesthetics sought our expertise for a comprehensive revitalisation.

From identity and merchandising to a new flagship store concept, our goal was to embody elegance and inclusiveness into a unique offering for men and women, of all ages and ethnicity.

We crafted a sophisticated identity with a luxurious palette, reflecting the clinic's ethos, textures and experience. And the 'Inner Sanctum' concept ensured a seamless customer journey every step of the way.

Our holistic marketing plan aimed to diversify clientele and promote attainable beauty. And we equipped staff with a brand toolkit for in-house production control.

Another amazing tourism-based project launched - Aquila Eco Retreat. A wonderfully unique off-grid rural escape just out of Richmond in the Coal River Valley. The secret is out now, with a new website and integrated marketing campaign.

We love building trusted relationships with passionate clients and sharing the fun along the journey. We’ve had the pleasure of working closely with owners Alice and Jason to capture the stunning natural beauty and relaxed luxury experience Aquila offers.

The Agency team produced the creative platform, multi-use video (thanks to Matt Scott of MTS Films), screen and digital content, an accessible contemporary website, and implemented a Social Media and AdWords marketing campaign.

The campaign celebrates the unique eco-pods and the property’s immersive sensory experiences, as well as the range of local attractions, high-quality food and beverage products and tourism offerings to local and targeted national markets.

Plus, with a fully accessible glamping tent as one of the accommodation choices everyone can enjoy, it ticks all the boxes on an inclusive tourism level too :)

Say hello to The Hot Room Hobart.

A little while ago Grace approached us to help share her unique vision for what a yoga studio and community could be. Sick and tired of yoga being sold as an overly polished fitness trend, she wanted to get real about what it is that makes Yoga and The Hot Room community so special.

Her passion for healing, inclusion and making sure everybody was able to access and enjoy yoga has led to the creation of the Real Yoga for Real People campaign. The video and posters that are now around town are only the beginning, and we are incredibly excited to be along for the ride as we embark on bringing even more awesome things to life very very soon.

A wonderful client and passionate lead organisation in the blind and low-vision sports space. Well worth a read to discover what's happening at the state and national level, and the recent IBSA World Blind Games!

2023 has been a bumper year for BSA and blind sports across Australia. Read all about it in our 2023 Annual Report - a special expanded edition that includes a short report of the IBSA World Blind Games in August which saw our largest ever Australian Team take part in six sports.

“It has been fantastic to see the growth of blind sport and the increased activity across the country in the past year. Our sports have enjoyed a bumper year, with national and international competitions once again taking place. A real highlight has been the growth and opportunities in female sport, particularly in blind football and blind cricket which is a strong indicator of the ongoing growth in blind sport and opportunities for people who are blind and vision impaired to get involved and active," comments Matt Clayton, BSA CEO.

Click the link below to view our 2023 Annual Report, which is available in both an accessible PDF graphic format, and a plain text word file.

Another reflection on the past year… Last October, the IC team had the honour of producing the Special Olympics Australia National Games Opening Ceremony at Launceston Silverdome.

This event allowed us to showcase our Agency's diverse capabilities in a significant way.

The Games emphasizes athletes' abilities over their disabilities, promoting the motto: "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."

The event brought together local, national, and international dignitaries, along with thousands of visitors from Tasmania and interstate to celebrate athletes from all corners of the country.

Our role included developing the event's creative theme, graphics, and 'stadium-size' AV design, encompassing sound, lighting, staging production, technical and creative direction, as well as event content and performance management.

The objective was to create an inclusive, all-abilities performance that also featured indigenous and internationally renowned artists.

We developed the 'Dare to Dream' theme, highlighting the transformative power of sport in people's lives. The theme drove the selection of performers, songs, and visual effects that offered a Tasmanian context, intertwined with universally loved music and lyrics that captured hearts and minds to unite everyone in sound, voice, and movement.

We collaborated with Second Echo Ensemble, local disability artists, motion graphics designers, videographers, musicians, and an array of production specialists to plan an accessible multi-sensory show.

The performance seamlessly combined theatre, drama, high-energy music and dance, featuring indigenous songs and all-abilities performers in custom-made outfits. And the Taiko drumming, thematic lighting, and visual effects projected onto large screens created an atmosphere of celebration and inclusiveness.

The grand finale was a breathtaking performance by singer/songwriter Mia Palencia and her acclaimed song ‘So Many Hands’ - leaving the audience captivated and filled with fond memories for a lifetime.

The increased brand awareness for Special Olympics Tasmania has led to greater participation in their local sports programs and increased opportunities for intellectually disabled athletes to just have fun with friends, or possibly represent their state and country too.

Twelve months on, we reflect proudly on our work with Special Olympics Tasmania during the Special Olympics Australia National Games in Launceston.

Our role was to raise awareness within the community of SOT’s local participation programs, and pathways to state and national representation for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

SOT is part of a global non-profit organisation that uses sports to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities, fostering connection, inclusivity and personal development.

The SOA National Games also featured the 'Flame of Hope' Torch Relay, a significant event not seen in Tasmania since 1986.

Our social media campaign, 'Dare to Dream,' had three stages: pre-Games focused on the 'Flame of Hope' Law Enforcement Torch Run, during the Games showcased the unique stories of Tasmanian athletes, and post-Games promoted SOT memberships and local athletes' achievements.

The campaign aimed to create awareness, share the athletes' experiences and encourage memberships to SOT.

In raising SOT’s profile in the Tasmanian community, we’ve helped individuals and families gain a network of support and encouraged the broader public to open their hearts and minds to people with an intellectual disability.

"Inclusive Creatives has helped expand Special Olympics Tasmania's profile across the mainstream landscape. Their skills and values allowed us to collaborate and benefit from their creative and marketing expertise.
The quality of the campaign (during the 2022 Special Olympics Australia National Games in Launceston) and outcomes exceeded my expectations. We experienced a five-fold increase in athlete registrations and inquiries about our sports programs. Thanks to IC, Special Olympics Tasmania is now on a growth path in attracting and supporting more intellectually disabled people to participate in sport, and also for possible state and national representation." – Kath Thomson, SOT Chair.

As we reflect on the recent BOFA Film Festival, it serves as a powerful reminder of the capacity of creativity to drive positive change.

BOFA 2023 has once again showcased innovation, imagination, and above all inspiration as it seeks to shape and influence the evolution of our social fabric and attitudes, particularly in the realm of diversity and inclusion.

We've been fortunate to receive creative awards for our work in enhancing the BOFA brand and rejuvenating the Festival's marketing in close collaboration with their management team.

Our dedication to our clients frequently goes beyond mere professional engagement, often extending to a deeper level of shared values and purpose. This is why we take pride in our sponsorship of the Festival too, as it allows us to amplify the voices and visibility of various subjects centred around social inclusion and humanity.

We look forward to the years ahead working with this iconic and forward-thinking festival platform. AS BOFA doesn't just educate, enlighten, and entertain - it also stands as a vibrant reminder that the quest for inclusivity holds limitless potential :)

We've attended numerous conferences, but the TasCOSS event was truly brilliant! It was not just informative and educational, but also inclusive, accessible, interactive, engaging, inspiring, motivating, comprehensive, and even challenging.

Our congratulations to everyone involved!

The program provided profound social insights, comprehensive program information, and a strong focus on purposeful and practical leadership, addressing the current and future challenges and opportunities within the sector.

And with diverse storytelling from lived experiences and expert speakers, the event was profoundly relevant.

This sector, ranking as the 4th largest in our state, needs to significantly expand in the coming years to meet the demands of our aging population.

Often undervalued and invisible until needed, it is characterised by humility, innovation, responsiveness, and resilience. This highly-skilled industry is actively driving our community's health, cohesion, and development, forming what we call the 'inclusion economy'.

So if you're considering a career change at any age, we urge you to explore this sector. It's expansive, progressive, impactful, and immensely satisfying.

It was an honour to be included among the delegates, connect with clients, and forge new relationships. A big thank you and bravo to everyone who contributed to the event's resounding success - we'll be back next year for sure!

[Images depict a range of conference activities with delegates filling a large room at Blundstone Arena listening to speakers from peak bodies, community organisations and relevant sector entities and participants. People are smiling, interacting and enjoying what is a positive and collegial event.]
