Congratulations are in order for , the 18-year-old chess sensation from Chennai, India, who has made history as the youngest-ever World Chess Champion.

In a thrilling match, Gukesh defeated reigning champion Ding Liren of China to claim the title, cementing himself as only the second Indian player to hold this honour, following in the footsteps of Viswanathan Anand, a five-time champion.

This victory not only marks a generational shift in the chess world but also highlights India’s growing stature in the sport.

"I've been dreaming about this and living this moment since I was 6 or 7. I have been living this moment for more than 10 years. Every chess player wants to live this moment and the only way to express is: I'm living my dream," Gukesh said in the post-match press conference.
