About Monica:

Monica is a musician, heavy music fiend and former Myspace kid from Melbourne, Australia. Monica was the host of Knotfest Australia three years running, editor of Warner Music’s Manics and has contributed to multiple publications, books and podcasts. In October this year she was the recipient of the Australian Women In Music Award for the Oztix Heavy Music category.

After working for years as a musician, music journalist and digital marketer, she launched her podcast Being in a Band in 2019 which evolved into an online academy and coaching platform - the first of its kind in Australia - where she helped empower thousands of musicians all around the globe to reach the next level in their music career.

When not helping other musicians kick their goals she is writing, recording and touring in metal band, The Last Martyr. They’ve performed with Black Veil Brides, Amaranthe, Story Of The Year, at Unify Festival and more.

When it comes to women in the heavy scene she says "We've always been here" and "I've finally gotten to a stage where I wear all pink on stage with a full pit of dudes in front of me and they embrace it."

Lucinda Goodwin Photography is a household name in the Australian music industry and a family favourite in the Geelong music scene.

From a spark ignited at Falls Festival in 2010, to being a photo pit resident at our biggest venues and festivals, Lucinda has spent a decade developing both her craft and illustrious career.

Following the completion of a Cert 4 / Diploma in Photo-imaging in 2011/2012 (NMIT/Melbourne Polytechnic), Goodwin specialised in live music photography and portrait work, capturing the euphoria of the stage, uncovering the opaque nature of backstage, and magnifying musician identity.

Jena Marino is the Founder of The Real Songwriters of Melbourne, an organisation which has helped hundreds of songwriters across Victoria, interstate and overseas share their music, develop their networks and grow their music careers.

With a Graduate Diploma in Business (Arts and Cultural Management), a Bachelor of Journalism and Diploma of Music Performance (Vocals), Jena’s expansive skill set, combined with a passion for music and developing the emerging songwriters of the Melbourne music industry created the concept for The Real Songwriters of Melbourne. Her determination and perseverance to assist emerging songwriters is always at the forefront in everything she does and she has been acknowledged by many songwriters and industry representatives as nurturing, welcoming and approachable.

With years of experience in the music sector, Jena is first and foremost a performer. Her career has taken her around Australia in the corporate music scene with stints in Los Angeles and London, both performing and recording.

Jena is proud to be a part of the development of many Melbourne emerging songwriters through RSOM and to create a safe space for everyone to be a part of the RSOM Community. As a female-headed independent business, she is also proud to have fostered many relationships with female creatives in editorial, media, public relations and art in order to develop their portfolios for the workforce.

OUT NOW - Episode 11: Tuned In with Jaz Yates - Taking Risks.

This incredible woman is an icon. She is so hardworking and has so much ambition, I'm not sure how she stores it all in her physical form! She is a connector and brings people together, as well as working on at least 10 different projects at the same time. I'll never forget being at a networking event with Jaz and she spotted the only solitary person who clearly didn't know anyone. She went right up to them, introduced herself and then brought them into the group and made introductions. I watched the whole thing play out and thought, Jaz probably doesn't even know the impact she just had on that person's experience today and potentially on their next steps and connections in this industry. We need more people like this in the industry! People who see beyond themselves and go out of their way to be inclusive. So much love for Jaz!

A bit about Jaz Yates:

Jaz Yates is an artist manager with 9 years of industry experience, spanning the worlds of developing artists, music tech and music media. Launching ‘JY Management Group’ as a place to nurture and support numerous local acts, Jaz has continued to utilise her expertise to guide future industry professionals, hosting the ‘Your Music, Your Business’ podcast and working as an entertainment management lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM).

This passion for improving the foundations of the industry has led Jaz to ‘RELEASR.’ a music-tech start-up that streamlines the entire process of workflows across artist teams. The platform simplifies burdensome tasks such as distributing release assets across artist teams, reducing asset, data and metadata request times, and more in one place, making RELEASR one of the most exciting developments emerging from the world of Australian music-tech this year.
