Sakelier () will be dropping by Melbourne in July to host our first interstate event.

A sake tasting event at Sakedokoro Namara (), on Tuesday 5th of July, 3-5pm.

We will be featuring, Chikurin (竹林) from Marumoto Sake Brewery, Okayama and Imanishiki (今錦) from Yonezawa Sake Brewery, Nagano.

It is a great chance to sample and compare their hand crafted sake brewed with locally grown rice and water from both regions of Japan.

Chikurin sake is brewed using self-cultivated Yamada-nishiki sake rice from fields in the region surrounding the brewery, and “Fukuryu-sui” (a famous water used in tea making, which has been served to visiting royalty) drawn from Mt. Chikurin, which stands right behind the brewery.

Imanishiki sake is brewed exclusively with locally-cultivated Nagano rice, groundwater drawn from the Southern Alps, and native Nagano sake yeast. The sake is slowly pressed using the traditional “fune” method, creating a light and vibrant taste that has been winning awards internationally.
