It began in 2014 when a group of passionate quilters had a dream of producing a magazine for quilters, by quilters, filled with beautiful patterns and articles to inspire quilters like us to make more quilts. ake Modern magazine is read by thousands of quilters in over 70 countries around the globe! Our modern quilt magazine is published every two months. Each issue is 100+ pages filled with beautiful quilt patterns and modern sewing projects, and articles to inspire. We collaborate with a huge team of international quilt designers to bring you the best modern quilt patterns guaranteed to get you itching to jump into your fabric stash and sew. For avid readers we have articles to inspire and teach you something new, and interviews with your favourite quilters. Make Modern magazine issues are delivered to read on your computer, tablet or phone. This means no waiting on delivery, and it’s environmentally friendly. It also means you’re not using precious storage space in your sewing room (yay!) and you can conveniently access patterns while shopping. With over 500 quilt patterns in our pattern archive, your only problem will be deciding on which pattern to start first! There are modern quilt patterns featuring traditional patchwork piecing, foundation paper piecing (FPP), English paper piecing (EPP), improv and applique; techniques like pixel quilts, 3D quilts and fabric weaving, and plenty of patterns with lots of negative space for you to quilt. When it comes to fabric, we have modern quilt patterns designed for pre-cuts like jelly rolls, fat quarter bundles, and charm packs; solid fabric quilts; lots of quilts designed for you to use your stash and scraps; and quilts made from recycled fabrics like denim. Because size matters, we have mini quilt patterns, baby quilts perfect for gifting, lap quilts and lots of full-sized quilts too. And it’s not just quilts! There are also loads patterns for cushions, pincushions, placemats, table runners, bags, pouches, wallets, camera straps, coasters, luggage tags, doll quilts, sewing machine covers, journal covers, baskets, Christmas stockings, needle books, a hopscotch rug, and even a foldable waterproof picnic blanket! ​Make Modern is Australia's only dedicated modern quilt magazine. It began when a group of passionate quilters had a dream of producing a magazine for quilters, by quilters, filled with beautiful patterns and articles to inspire quilters like us to make more modern quilts!

Five years on and Make Modern is delivered to thousands of quilters in 72 countries and we are so proud! Our modern quilt magazine is published bi-monthly in collaboration with a huge team of talented quilt designers from all over the globe who contribute patterns and articles to each issue. Each issue is 100+ pages jam-packed with modern quilt patterns to get your creative juices flowing, articles to inspire you and teach you something new, and interviews with your favourite quilt designers. Issues are delivered as PDF files, to be read on your computer, tablet or phone, with patterns printed as you wish.
