This week on The I in Us, Paul and Little Jase look forward to welcoming Simone-lisa Anderson to the JOY airwaves.
Simone-lisa is the parent of an intersex person, the Intersex Peer Support Australia (IPSA) Tasmanian peer support representative and IPSA Parent representative for Australia, a co-investigator with Interlink (offering peer support and counselling to intersex Australians), a member of the Tasmanian Whole of Government, Department of Health, and Department of Justice LGBTIQA+ reference groups, a founding member of the Restricted Medical Treatment Assessment Board under the ACT’s Variation in S*x Characteristics (Restricted Medical Treatment) Act 2023, a co-designer of the Victorian Intersex Health and Wellbeing Project and, the designer and project officer of “Better Lives” an intersex specific program run by “Working It Out”, Tasmania's only dedicated LGBTIQA+ support, advocacy and education service.
Driven by her passion for all intersex children to receive the care and resources they need to live happy, healthy, and successful lives, Simone-lisa draws on her lived experience raising an intersex child, and over 20 years of experience as a teacher to inform education, health, and community service providers about what it is to be intersex, how to recognise the signs a child may be intersex, and how to support them.
Simone-lisa will share her experiences raising her child and about her tireless work as an advocate, educator, and peer support worker. So tune into The I in Us this Wednesday 7-8pm AEST for what is sure to be an informative and thought-provoking show.
