This week on The I in Us Paul looks forward to welcoming Delsi Moleta (aka Delsi Cat) to the JOY Studios.

Delsi (they/she) is a proud q***r person, qualified teacher, producer, business owner, and TEDx speaker. Over the past 11 years, Delsi has contributed extensively to the LGBTQIA+ sector, working with organisations such as Minus18, Switchboard Victoria, Transgender Victoria, JOY 94.9, and Rainbow Network.

Delsi is also the founder of Unicorns, a grassroots LGBTQIA+ organisation they established 11 years ago to create safe, inclusive spaces for the entire LGBTQIA+ community. Their work with Unicorns has received recognition when being named a finalist for the Victorian LGBTI Person of the Year Award in both 2019 and 2023 and earning a spot on Google’s Top 50 Australian LGBTI Leaders List.

Lastly, Delsi is a current joint Project Manager on the Being Valued Project. Supported by WorkSafe Victoria’s Work-Well-Respect Fund, this project sees Transgender Victoria and Your Community Health partnering to co-design resources to help employers prevent gendered violence in the workplace. Centering community voices throughout their development, including inters*x voices, these resources will improve the capacity of workplaces, specifically leaders, to create safe, inclusive, and gender affirming workplace cultures for Trans, Gender Diverse, Non-Binary, and other LGBTIQA+ workers.

So please join us this Wednesday 27 November 2024 6-7pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Summer Time) as we discuss Delsi’s passion and dedication to achieving safety, acceptance, equality, equity, and inclusion for our diverse community in the workplace, and the community generally.

On this week’s episode of The I in Us Paul looks forward to welcoming Houston (USA) based inters*x artist Tracy Postert, and UK-based inters*x artist Lucie Corden to the JOY94.9 airwaves.

Tracy’s parents learned she is inters*x when she was 5 years old and she has been on estrogen since age 12, but Tracy didn’t learn she is inters*x until age 50. In between times Tracy became a social activist, gained a Bachelor’s degree, a PhD in bio-medicine, a Masters in Science Education, and a post-graduate fellowship -all leading to her working as a teacher and college instructor. During this period, at age 25, Tracy visited the faculty library and figured our she might have the innate variation in s*x characteristics, Androgen Insensitivity. But spending all these years in the science, medical and educational space didn’t bring Tracy closer to having this confirmed. Finally, at the age of 50, all would be revealed and at age 54 Tracy received "inters*x services" from a medical doctor for the very first time. As a long-time activist this passion nowadays sees Tracy also speaking up for inters*x rights and using her visual art as a vehicle to spread the word about our community - figuratively and practically – i.e. after her van was stolen and returned, Tracy decided to repaint the van rainbow with a generous covering of inters*x flags.

Lucie is a feminine inters*x woman.
Her parents learned she was born with an innate variation in s*x characteristics when she was 5 months old, she endured operations from as young as 12 and has been on hormone replacement therapy all her life. But like Tracy, being inters*x doesn’t define Lucie, she loves life, is married to a wonderful man with a similar inters*x variation, has worked as a makeup artist, and nowadays is a visual artist, a barista, and an active and passionate advocate for inters*x rights on social media and at inters*x people's support groups.

"Happy Inters*x Awareness Day 2024!

The I in Us is an Australian-based radio show about the inters*x community, by the inters*x community, for everyone.
On this week’s episode we will be celebrating International Inters*x Awareness Week, in the leadup to International Inters*x Awareness Day (IAD), this Saturday, Oct 26.

This week we will discuss the history of IAD, the importance of the day, and share thoughts from the inters*x community members about why IAD is important. We will also hear an update from inters*x advocate Tony Briffa relating to the status of protections and legislation in Victoria.

On this week’s episode Paul will once again be joined by special guest co-host Cody Smith, and to broaden the conversation, Paul and Cody will be joined by past guest, inters*x veterinarian Dr Channy McGowan (it’s amazing how many animals are inters*x, no, I don’t mean Channy) and for her first appearance, we are excited to welcome Georgia Andrews to The I in Us who will join us from “across the ditch”, when she zooms in from Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Georgia lives in Wellington, is an independent inters*x advocate, a United Nations LBGTIQ+ Human Rights Defender, a regional (state) Service Coordinator for youth disability services, and working closely with Stephanie Lum as the Stakeholder Manager at YOUth&I, an Australian-based inters*x publication founded in 2019. On this week’s show Georgia will give us a sneak peek into the soon to be released fourth edition, when she reads poetry submitted by inters*x youth from across the globe.

On The I in Us this week we will also premiere "Avarice", the newest song from Melbourne-based independent inters*x musician and producer Nyx, from Nyx and the Nightmakers. Released today (Tuesday 22 Oct), we are delighted to share this wonderful song with our local and international listeners.
