Noir films are always popular and here ‘The Righteous’ by William He and Henri Scott took all the tropes and made them Canberran. A really good looking film, nicely shot and edited, the film added a bit of humour too.

Starboard by Alex Jackson and Katie Filippello saw a woman overwhelmed by all the things she wants to do in life. Sweet, funny at times, a lovely film with a good message about taking one step at a time.

The Balloon Man saw Daniel Sanguineti return to LCA after a few years away with a horror film about a boogie man made of balloons. I’ve never seen a bad guy attacked with a protractor before, so that was interesting!

Right Handed by Ryan Caird had Death on holidays, so he sends a lowly public-servant of the afterlife to collect a soul for him. You can imaging what an APS2 might do in that situation.

Great write up on one of our favourite collaborators, writer/director, Joshua Koske.

In celebration of his recent award-winning Vorfreude Pictures short film BECOMING EMMA BRAINTREE, we spoke to U.S ex-pat filmmaker Josh Koske about his upcoming plans as well as his recent successes.

In speaking with Josh, his passion for storytelling and sharing people’s stories from their own perspective becomes abundantly clear, as well as his love for filmmaking in Canberra:

“I cannot think of another place where you’re within arm’s reach of just about any sort of location that you want.”
