I analyse, research, and then overanalyse.
Meagan thinks I'm off my trolly half the time, getting lost in the vortex of freakin tags. 🫥
Many business owners dislike them, don't know what to do with them, or don't see a purpose in them. We get it.
But. ☝️
One thing I need to mention is that hashtags, although sensational, need to be used strategically. If the content you’re posting has no relationship with the hashtags, why are you using them?
Hashtags, AKA the SEO of Insta, serve a purpose.
🌟 Keywords that land you in the laps of the eyeballs that need, want or desire your offering. For example, if you’re a chef posting gourmet Italian food, you won't use tags that are unrelated to the spagbol you posted on your feed.
It's a waste of your time and your ideals' time. Right?
🌟 And, on that note, keep them tight. Use lower-numbered tags specific to your industry and target market instead of the ginormous broad ones like
hashtag 'food' or hashtag 'love'. (These are lame examples, but you get the drift.) The larger the tag, the quicker the content becomes invisible because that huge hashtag is utilised every 0.5 seconds.

No? 💫 What about stepping in the shoes of your ideals and thinking about when THEY would be online and in full view of your content? 💫 Although it’s easy to state that most people, after dinner, sloth of the lounge and aimlessly scroll, we both know that we can do better than that. 💫 What does a day in your ideals life look like? 💫 Are they commuting? 💫 Do they work the night shift? 💫 Are they feeding a newborn? 💫 What is their routine, and how does this determine when you post? 💫 Use the person/s you have created your product or service for and jump into their world to understand how they operate and when they would be ‘available’ to consume your content. 💫 There is no point posting on a whim or ‘thinking’ they’ll likely be online at X time. Trial times, review the performance, and if it’s not looking good, try another time. Whatever you do, trial, check, and adjust. And, far out, please use your insights. Over time, social media analyses and recognises when the most eyeballs are online, and create these amazing insights just for you, so you have a clear picture of when you should post and, in turn, get the best result. 💥💥 So, sorry. Whether you’re using social media personally or as a business owner – there is such a thing as social media etiquette. 💥 Keyboard warriors, cyberbullying, bad mouthing and lack of confidentiality are all a big, fat no-go. 🤚 Here are a few quick suggestions to ensure your social media etiquette is on point: 🔮 Respect. Treat others how you would expect to be treated. If you have an issue with a business, instead of being defamatory or offensive, contact them privately to resolve the situation. If you are the small business in question, take the feedback and work with your client to turn their experience into a positive one. 🔮 Before you post –stop and think. Is it appropriate? Could it be deemed harmful or offensive? Nothing worse than seeing a small business owner posting another business owner’s content, slagging them off—poor form. 🔮 Be mindful of privacy. If you’re a business owner working directly with clients or children primarily, ensure you have permission before posting imagery on your pages. Be also mindful of your personal information on social media – putting your address and contact information on your business page (unless you’re happy for this information to be made public) is unnecessary. 🔮 Stay positive – although life isn’t peachy every second of the day – stay focussed on the aim of the game. Your social media strategy doesn't include bringing your audience down, shining lights of negativity or being offensive. 🔮 Rules are NOT meant to be broken. Any protocol or guidelines on all social media are there to protect and support those who utilise it. So to avoid being blocked, suspended or banned – it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with these guidelines and abide by them. Love a good draft! Who doesn’t? 😉 Especially when you need to edit or adjust something before classifying it as ‘final’. Social media is no different – a draft option is available on FB and IG, and when talking about Instagram specifically, it’s fantastic. Especially if posting reels manually, you must change a few things up before it goes out. BUT 🤚 One thing. One small thing to note is: When you save a reel as a draft in Instagram, it will only save to the device it was created on. This means you can't share it with anyone else or have them edit it on your behalf. 😲 Oh, and if you log out of the account, whether you saved the draft or not – it will be deleted. 🤬 Annoying? WOOP. Trends. Reels. Blow up. Thousands. 🔢🔢🔢 Yes, there have been SO many posts around lately, discussing and challenging why or why not you, you should jump on reels, follow trends OR why that’s not a good strategy. Many different pros and cons. We get it. 👍 We had a reel recently, that as the days trickled on, was blowing up – view & engagement-wise. We were shook. 😳 After looking carefully. We know why it performed well. 😉 🎬 It’s valuable 🎬 It’s 5 seconds long 🎬 It’s relatable and informative 🎬 The audio was small in terms of being used but also indicated it would grow and then be classified as ‘trending’ 🎬 We remixed a reel template & recognised the level of engagement on the original was high 🎬 The engagement on ours was incredibly high, so Instagram decided it was worth pushing out to more eyes and made it available for viewing to an extended audience. However, on the flip side. 🤸♀️ The follow growth – was a pile of poop. 💩 This tells us, that even though the performance of views and engagement was fantastic, we would most probably get zero leads. We don’t let this deter us because regardless of the follower count, it’s still a fantastic result and one we are proud of. 🎖️ And if the above statement didn’t leave you confused & questioning ‘Did they just say it performed well, but didn’t give results wanted?’ - we will end with this: Social media, is a journey, about building and creating relationships, through the power of strong messaging, insightful and valuable content and using a variety of media to dictate to YOUR ideal client how you can solve those problems and frustrations that occur for them on a daily basis. 💪 We did exactly that & will continue to, regardless of if the content gets 200 views or in our case, 18k & counting. 😉 No
If you've been hiding under a rock, perhaps you haven’t seen our reels. 🤔 Many feel that they need the flawless jump, changes of clothing or 'look at me transport to a different dimension' transitions, that leave their audience with mouths open in awe. 😲 Well, yep we love them too. They’re clever and you know, these businesses will consistently produce the same quality of content. 👌🏼 It's because they have a reel strategy. 📽️ Based on who they’re wanting to target, understanding their ideals and ensuring that the content ticks the valuable box. They’re doing what works for them because they have seen the results. We reel too. We see results too. We have a strategy too. No, our reels are not always the most phenomenal transitions, but there is a method to the madness, that works for us to crack that engagement pot and convey the appropriate message to the right people. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Our objectives? 📽️ We are no BS. You know that, and we will showcase this. 📽️ Not a lot of makeup happening in most of our reels, a bit of a sh*t show, laughing at ourselves. 📽️ We are mums. We can’t change into several different outfits to convey a message (not because we have no clean clothes) because we don’t need to, to get OUR message across. 📽️ We support small business owners, we want you to laugh at us, we want you to listen, and we want you on our team. We know how to relate. 📽️ We want you to engage with us and feel comfortable enough to do so. 📽️ Our messaging is genuine, our reactions are genuine, and so is our business. Regardless of what we are putting out, it will always have the intention of value. Social media. 🤔 No, I’m sorry it’s not just a marketing tool to dump a gazillion promotions. 🙅🏼♀️ Boring. 😴 Just because many assume that businesses use social media to ‘market’ – doesn’t mean that's all you do! 👉🏼 The sales posts are repulsive when they’re thrown at you all day, every day – so, don't do it! 👉🏼 Social media has social in the name, which is exactly what should be! Being social, genuinely conveying a message to your ideals and genuinely asking them questions. Showing an interest in what they want, from you. What they need, from you. 👉🏼 You need to gain your follower’s trust. Take them on your journey, explain how your product can rectify their pain points, and ensure each piece of content is valuable. Encourage conversations, and actively start them. 👉🏼 If you pop up a promotional piece of content, don’t push it, explain it. What is it, how does it work, what does it look like, why is it unique, what does it solve and where can they go if they’d like to know more or understand more? All you have to do – is bloody post the content. Stop overthinking how perfect it ‘doesn’t’ look or if the font aligns with your branding. So regardless if you have make-up on or not, or the pants you’re wearing aren’t flattering – it makes no damn difference. 👎 💥 Show up, remain consistent and know that life isn’t perfect. Half the humans on social media will only show you what they WANT you to see, and encourage your perception of them as ‘perfection’. It's a complete crock. They have sh*t days too. They have moments where they aren’t looking their ‘best’ – but they still post. & believe it or not, they still get the benefits of having a social media presence with value add content posted on a consistent basis.
