Junkyard PBS Junkyard is a weekly 1 hour radio show, presented on 3PBS FM each week at 7pm. The show focuses on an individual artist each week.,

Junkyard is a one hour show that is specialised each week, based on an artist or musical genre. Every week, I will dedicate an hour to an artist, detailing their musical history and playing selected tracks from their releases. Prepare to be informed and hearing an artist that you may not be familiar with!!!!

Hi, in case you missed it, please see following an audio link complete with playlist from tonight's PBS Junkyard show, where in the second of a two part Junkyard special, we once again featured a recently released Cherry Red 3CD box set called Roots Rock Rebels When Punk Met Reggae 1975 - 1982. This period of music in the UK was wonderful, as it highlighted two genres of music in particular - reggae and punk and their musical relationship. We played and discussed many tracks once again from the box set, artists this week included UB40, The Members, Public Image, Creation Rebel and The Beat. Hi, in case you missed it, please see following an audio link complete with playlist from tonight's PBS Junkyard show, where Kim Salmon and Boris Sudjovic joined us live in the PBS studio to discuss the reissue of The Scientists album You Get What You Deserve!. Originally released in 1985 through Karbon, Numero are reissuing the album this Friday, 16th August. Recorded in London, the album captures in time, the ongoing transition in sound from The Scientists early pop punk sound to a more neo grunge, swamp rock and noise punk style. Hi, in case you missed it, please see following an audio link complete with playlist from tonight's PBS Junkyard show, where we featured singer and guitarist Hugh Cornwell. After leaving The Stranglers in 1990, Hugh has gone onto having a successful solo career, his tenth solo album Moments Of Madness was released in 2022 and displays both Hugh's song writing and musicianship, been on a creative high. Hugh will be touring here shortly and will be appearing with his band at The Croxton on Saturday 3rd August and at Memo Music Hall on Sunday 4th August. Included on Junkyard this week are a few Stranglers songs along with a few tracks from his solo albums, also there is an interview recently recorded with Hugh Cornwell, he was great to talk to. Hi, in case you missed it, please see following an audio link complete with playlist from tonight's PBS Junkyard show, where we featured an experimental post punk and post rock band formed in Berlin in the early 80's, this week we focused on the band Die Haut. Initially an instrumental guitar focused band, they broadened their musical output by using a different array of vocalists. Guest vocalists included musical luminaries such as Nick Cave (he was predominant on the album Burnin' The Ice), Kim Gordon, Alan Vega, Lydia Lunch, Debbie Harry and Kid Congo Powers. We played a few instrumental tracks but mainly focused on the albums Burnin' The Ice, Head On and the live album Sweat, where different vocalists are used. Nikki was such a prolific artist that many of his recordings were not released until after his tragic death in 2006. Luckily for us, many of his recordings have since been remastered and reissued so that they are still available. We played tracks from albums such as Treasure Island, Fred Beethoven, along with many other great songs from his back catalogue as well. It includes all of the three albums that John Cale recorded for Island Records between 1974 and 1975, as well as outtakes and bonus tracks. It is about to be reissued as a 3 CD box set called Ship Of Fools. The three albums - Fear, Slow Dazzle and Helen Of Troy capture a peak and fertile period for John Cale musically. Tragically Steve passed away recently, his production and recording career was so unique, preferring to work only with analog and recording bands together in live takes where possible. His recordings were very much recognisable for his production, upon hearing some of the many artists that he recorded. We played tracks from artists such as PJ Harvey, Killdozer, The Jesus Lizard, The Wedding Present, Nirvana and The Breeders. Hi, in case you missed it, please see following an audio link complete with playlist from tonight's PBS Junkyard show, where both Rob Griffiths and Rob Wellington from the band The Fiction, joined us live in the studio. The Fiction are launching their new album Hollywood at The The Brunswick Artists bar this Friday. Formed originally in 1978, The Fiction led by Rob Griffiths played gigs until 1979, up until Rob formed the band Little Murders. In 2018 Mick Baty heard an original rehearsal tape and subsequently released it through Off The Hip Records. Since then the band have produced a further two studio albums, we discussed the band's history along with playing tracks from The Fiction's three releases.
