The community is invited to stand together on Sunday, 16 June at the City of Moreton Bay Real Men Rally.
This event, supported by Mayor Peter Flannery and Clontarf local and Real Men Rally founder Sean Gordon OAM, is a public call to end domestic violence against women.
“I encourage people to be part of this positive, local community action and join with Council in saying this should not happen in our backyard, or anywhere for that matter,” Mayor Flannery said.
Sean said he wanted to highlight the issues locally and encourage men, in particular, to talk about the issue and share their own insights and practical strategies.
“It’s all about how we can support, empower, and educate ourselves and each other to end violence,” he said.
The rally takes place from 9am to 11am at the Kayo (Dolphins) Stadium in Redcliffe. If you can't make it on the day, be sure to sign the pledge at Sign The Pledge - Real Men Rally

The proposal includes 240 three-bedroom and four-bedroom townhouses arranged in a mix of detached and attached dwellings over 21 building clusters. The architects at Myers Ellyett say their design focuses on pedestrian experience, visual appeal, and community engagement. With a low-medium density and maximum building height of two storeys, this development aims to provide a vibrant and inviting environment for living. Important Weather and Flooding update from the City of Moreton Bay's office and Mayor Flannery

The most up to date information can be found at Disaster Dashboard
disaster.moretonbay.qld.gov.au Dashboard (moretonbay.qld.gov.au).

The City of Moreton Bay experienced heavy to locally intense rainfall and dangerous flooding overnight, further straining recovery efforts following January's severe weather event. Although severe thunderstorms have temporarily subsided, the possibility of their redevelopment remains. The situation is under close monitoring, with detailed warnings to follow as needed.

Last night's storm brought exceptionally heavy rainfall, catching forecasters off guard. Despite a forecast indicating a minimal chance of less than 40mm of rain, some areas received up to 154mm. The council's proactive disaster management approach, honed through past flood events, includes a free 24/7 flood warning service for MoretonAlert subscribers. However, the severity of this morning's flooding prompted additional severe thunderstorm warnings for heavy rainfall.

Since 3 am, the City of Moreton Bay's disaster management teams and council staff have been actively managing flooding impacts and road closures, with 53 roads currently closed. The SES team, integrated into the disaster management effort, has received two assistance requests. Sandbag stations have been set up across affected areas for residents in need.

Residents are urged to prioritize safety, stay home if roads are flooded, and seek refuge with family or friends if necessary. City libraries are open as refuges, and residents are reminded to remain vigilant and have emergency plans in place. Visit https://www.getready.qld.gov.au/get-prepared to create a Household Extreme Weather Emergency Plan.

Natural disasters impact thousands of Queenslanders every year. Each disaster has lasting effects on people, their property and their possessions. Disasters can happen fast and without much warning. This means that it is hard to react to a disaster if you have not planned for one. People who get rea...

Musical lovers great ready for a night of show stopping entertainment!

On Saturday 2 March, the Brisbane City Pops Orchestra will launch their 2024 concert season at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre with a dazzling performance titled "A Celebration of Musicals", paying homage to the most celebrated melodies from Broadway.

Included in the musical showcase will be a stirring medley from The Phantom of the Opera, vibrant jazz songs of Chicago, and the infectious tunes of Mamma Mia! The return of acclaimed guest artists, Katie Stenzel and Greg Moore, will add to the excitement.

Katie's dynamic coloratura soprano will resonate beautifully through Gershwin's Summertime and Gilbert and Sullivan's Poor Wandering One, while Greg's impassioned tenor will move the audience with Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Bring Him Home.

As the evening unfolds, the audience will also enjoy selections from West Side Story and Broadway's showstoppers. It will be a wonderfully entertaining, feel-good concert. For more details and to grab your tickets, go to www.redcliffeentertainmentcentre.com.au/Events/BCPO-2024

Prams of Hope: Redcliffe Art Society's Christmas Raffle Triumph

Every year, the Redcliffe Art Society, Old Fire Station Gallery organises a Christmas Raffle, directing the proceeds towards a local charity.
For Christmas 2023, the decision was made to support women and their children directly impacted by Domestic Violence. In the pursuit of a fitting charity, the Toowong Rotary Club emerged as a suitable choice, being one of seven Rotary Clubs collaborating with five Brisbane women's refuges since 2021.
A North Brisbane refuge was selected, and upon approaching them, an urgent need for a well-made, compact, lightweight pram with under storage for parcels was expressed. Women in the refuge often possess nothing but the clothes on their backs when escaping violent relationships. As they rebuild their lives, reliable transportation to shops, appointments, public transport, family, and friends becomes crucial. Previous experiences with cheaper donated prams proved inadequate for the sustained use, leading to damage and accumulation in corridors.
The Redcliffe Art Society enthusiastically embraced the raffle with the hope of raising funds for one pram. A stunning original framed painting donated by member Maya Kuperman, alongside other generous contributions from society and public members, fueled the initiative.
The impact of aiding the women's shelter in this modest way resonated deeply with those involved in selling and purchasing tickets. The experience fostered a shared understanding of heartache and frustration faced by families connected to domestic violence, instilling a determination to alleviate such sorrow whenever possible.
The raffle exceeded expectations, raising sufficient funds for two exceptional prams, chosen by the refuge with support from Baby Bunting, who offered a generous discount. The prams were presented to Toowong Rotary members at the Redcliffe Art Society's Christmas party in December and promptly delivered to the women's refuge.

Kids Kirkwood Cup Day Showcases Redcliffe Junior Golf Talent

The prestigious Australian PGA event recently witnessed the vibrant display of junior golf talent at the Kids Kirkwood Cup Day held at the Royal Queensland Golf Club. Among the participants were four rising stars from the Redcliffe Golf Club Inc.'s Sub Junior Program, contributing to a gathering of 100 junior golfers from across the state.

The Redcliffe team, consisting of Jesse Lincoln, Cooper Pirritt, Evie Lincoln, and Erin Catt, embraced the opportunity and had an unforgettable experience at the competition. The format of the event was a 2-person ambrose over 5 holes, with teams comprising both boys and girls.

In a remarkable feat, the Redcliffe girls' team advanced to the final 16 for a Putting Challenge. As the final hole of the Championship concluded, Erin Catt showcased her precision and nerves of steel, sinking her putt to secure victory. Erin was among the three juniors to claim a set of Callaway clubs, adding an extra layer of accomplishment to Redcliffe's presence at the event.

Congratulations, Erin, on your well-deserved success!

Highlighting the commitment to junior golf development, Redcliffe Golf Club, in collaboration with Golf Australia, maintains a robust junior and sub-junior program. The club, along with Golf Australia, also organises programs for girls and women, including the popular 'Get into Golf' initiative, ensuring a year-round focus on nurturing talent and fostering a love for the sport.

Redcliffe Hospital's Paediatric Unit received a heartwarming surprise today, as Santa himself paid a special visit. Thanks to the generous donation of Lewis Land Group (Mon Komo, Redcliffe. and The Belvedere), hundreds of gifts were distributed to the children on the ward, along with additional boxes of toys for other areas of the hospital.

Nurse Unit Manager Emma O'Hara expressed her gratitude for Lewis Land Group's continued support, which includes over $30,000 in toy donations to Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital over the past four years.

“We are so appreciative of this donation, it is great to see smiles on the children’s faces especially those in Hospital at this time of year,” Emma said.

Chris Allison, Queensland Regional Manager at the Lewis Land Group, emphasized the joy of being able to provide gifts to children in need. “Our annual Christmas toy donation is a heartfelt tradition,” said Chris.

The partnership between RBWH Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital, known as Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital, ensures that all funds raised support innovative patient care projects and vital health research.
