Matthew DJ Genesis will deliver great music in his 2 hour show that will bring back a thousand memories for all his listeners.
Matthew Spiteri (AKA DJ Genesis) was born in 1983 it was the year that Michael Jackson performed the moonwalk for the the very first time.
From a young age Matthew was influenced by music his idols being Elvis Presley & Michael Jackson. His mother often found him playing their music on a stereo that his parents had bought him and he would mimic their moves in front of his bedroom mirror.
Matthew listened to the radio all the time and he began to have great knowledge of music, singers and bands. He would often play a game with his mother in the car as a young boy. When a song came on the radio he would shout out to his mother ‘who sings this’ often she didn't know the answer then Matthew would always tell her not only the name of the singer or band but the name of song. Sure enough when the song ended the radio announcer would say “That was The Beach Boys with Little Deuce Coupe” and Matthew would sit there with a big smile on his face.
As he got older his passion for music grew as he begun to do odd jobs around the house for pocket money. Each week he saved $20.00 and he bought himself a new tape/CD from various artists ranging from Buddy Holly, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Kiss, Prince, Cher, Credence Clearwater Revival and much, much more spanning all music genres from Swing, Rock ‘n’ Roll, pop, dance, Soul and all other types of music styles.
He soon had a massive music collection from the 50’s,60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s he also had quiet a large knowledge of music by the time he was 16.
When he was in High School he attended all music and entertainment classes from Music Industry Skills where he received a Certificate III. Music performance where he played the Drums. Theatre Studies, Drama and Media.
He also enjoyed acting and dancing, he took part in all school musicals, concerts and events along side high school friend Anthony Calea who went on to be runner-up in Australian Idol in 2004.
At a young age Matthew knew he wanted to be in the the entertainment industry. Whilst at school he auditioned for a big school production where only a handful of schools could participate as they would create 100 years of History in one concert event. This was quiet a big deal for Matthew because if he got in he would perform in Sydney with an Australian music legends daughter, Johnny O’ Keefe Matthew knowing so much about music he new exactly who Johnny O’ Keefe was where the other kids didn’t have a clue.
Matthew auditioned to be in the production and of course he performed a Medley of Elvis and Michael Jackson. When the lady running the show saw that he could dance rock n roll and mimic Elvis she said to him fantastic you will be a rock n roll dancer for the Johnny O’Keefe part of the show. Later on when rehearsals began Matthew also landed himself the part of Charlie Chaplin for the early years part of the show and a solo dance routine with a group of female dancers. His inspiration for that routine came from John Travolta’s character in ‘Stayin Alive’ a movie that Matthew loved as he was also a Bee Gees fan.
After graduating year 12 with the dreams of being either a radio announcer or in the entertainment industry he then decided to put his collection of music to good use and he then opened his entertainment company called Genesis Entertainment. For the last 16 years Matthew DJ Genesis has been DJ’ing all kinds of occasions, celebrations, corporate events and touring live tribute concert productions around the country his Elvis Tribute shows have played in iconic venues such as Her Majesty’s Theatre.
