Looking for your next read? Even Amanda Morgan couldn’t put Summer Change down whilst snorkelling! Neither could Sue Ross who said “I finished your book at 2.30 am this morning! … I loved it!!! Congratulations! It weaved such a great story of intrigue right to the end and I loved the characters. … The emotions were very real and they gave advice indirectly for dealing with teenage issues. I thought it was just great.💕”
Summer Change would make the perfect Christmas gift! 🎄🧑🎄

Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I love Summer coming of age novels- I just do!! And Melissa Wrays Summer Change is another to add to my favourites, especially because it's set in Aussie Townsville.
We follow teenage Shae who gets sent to live with her cousins for Summer. Her parents are being cagey and definitely hiding secrets - but that's not all that's on Shae's mind.
Her cousin Lexi has changed. She's acting cooler, dating a loser bad boy who smokes and also there's a mysterious boy who's moved in next door who keeps popping up.
Mel's descriptions are hilarious like a 'bikini like melted cheese'and I love the dynamics between the female cousins. Lexi is trying so hard to be cool with her sunglasses collection, boy obsession and smokes while Shae remains herself - make-up free, frizz hair and real.
I love the idea of the cousin's hanging out over Summer and meeting the bad boy next door. I would have been happy with just this! But Mel has added a little extra mystery - what exactly are Shae's parents hiding?
Set in such a beautiful fun place amongst waterfalls and snorkeling. Shae is an awesome teen. She's mature, level headed, not bullied into anything and she's her own person - what a role model! Love her!
Congratulations Melissa Wray on Summer Change! Love it!!

It’s Adele Jones back for another post, only this time I’m shifting gears. With all the excitement of launching ‘Immortal Mistake’, the September release of the second edition of my debut novel, ‘Integrate’, slipped by more quietly. So, here is a louder announcement!!
Next year celebrates the tenth anniversary of ‘Integrate’s’ release. The 2nd edition has not only been re-edited (I’d love for some folk to re-read it and compare their reading experiences—and of course new readers too!!), it’s got a new cover designed by the talented, Carmen, of the Rhiza Edge team.
They say “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” but of course we do. With the 2nd edition there has been a shift to a graphic designed cover, replacing the photo cover model. Over the weekend I attended a pop culture event and it was fascinating observing reactions to the new look, with multiple graphic designers stopping to admire Carmen’s work.
I’ve attached an image of both the old and new covers. What are your thoughts on the new look? Let me know. Until next time! 😊
Adele Jones Author here, back with another for more about my "Immortal Mistake".
Today we’re broaching some of the themes in this YA novel, which include several hardcore issues, like domestic violence, youth crime, neglect, child trafficking, AI, forgiveness. Many these are linked to poorer outcomes for young people, and Rennie’s smack bang in the middle of this volatile environment. Further, his attempts to navigate his difficult existence often see him misunderstood.
I’m hopeful this story will open conversations and bridge understanding into some of the complex factors enfolding victims of domestic abuse and young people who get entangled in youth crime. Anyone who has been watching the rising concerns over youth crime in Queensland communities will recognise the timeliness of this story. With the story set in Brisbane, Australia, this is even more relevant. Given the recent release of , the issue of child trafficking is also highly relevant for today’s society.
I’ll close today’s post with another quote from the Immortal Mistake Press Release:
“Immortal Mistake is a new novel from Australian author, Adele Jones, that provides an amazing balance of science fiction with a story of a boy, a casualty of family abuse and neglect, child safety services, foster homes and searching for a place to belong, in a story that is ultimately hopeful.”
AUTHOR TAKEOVER!
Happy Monday fellow booklovers! This is Adele Jones back to share more about my "Immortal Mistake".
What do Jelly Bellies, Copy Cats and Cyborgs (and some funky "face-melting" moulage) have to do with each other? Well, these all featured at a recent event that included a mini-launch for "Immortal Mistake". For fun, I’ll attach some photos from this. Those who’ve managed to get their hands on a copy of the novel and finished reading will know the significance of these things, but for those who haven’t had the opportunity yet, I’ll give you a clue from chapter 6 of the novel.
“This was big and someone wanted that information bad. He knew that someone wouldn’t stop looking until they found it. Rennie also recognised it was his own stupid fault for eating the jellybean. If he shared that information with Blaine, it could put his brother smack in the middle of the mess. Somehow, he had to figure out what it all meant before that person caught up with him. He’d start by solving the mystery of the disappearing safe.”
If this has whet your appetite, Immortal Mistake (ISBN: 978-1761110085) can be found at popular brick and mortar bookstores (QBD, Dymocks, Koorong, Collins etc) along with online stores (Amazon, Booktopia, Kobo, and many others) where digital and hardcopies can be sourced. Copies can also be purchased directly from Rhiza Edge Press via the website.
Stay tuned for my next post. 😊
AUTHOR TAKEOVER! Happy best book day! (Because EVERY day is a best book day, lol. 🤣☺)
This is Adele Jones and this is Day One of my on the Rhiza Edge page. Today I’m inviting you to celebrate my Immortal Mistake. Yay!!!
Immortal Mistake was released on 1st August and the hero of this story is teenager Rennard (Rennie) Parker. As a victim of neglect with a history of youth crime, Rennie’s life is complicated. Really complicated. In this story his life gets even more so when he discovers a high-tech vault buried in his backyard and a bionic stranger that pulls him into a world of forced experimentation that erases 24 hours of his memories.
A direct statement quoted from my Press Release:
“There’s a bit of something for everyone in this book … plenty of thrills and spills for the adrenaline ju**ie, some pretty complex embryonic acceleration and evocation mining for the aspiring scientist, cyborgs and clones for the sci-fi buff all authentically wrapped around the main character, Rennie, who actually just wants to feel and know the love of a family.”
I’ll be back in a couple of days with more about this exciting new book. 😊
Last few days to enter our short story collection!
