"The Mother of My Lord"
After the annunciations of John the Baptist to Zechariah, and Jesus to Mary, the two mothers meet. This Feast asks that we recognise the unique role of Mary in the history of our salvation, but also to follow her in seeing the many blessings in our lives as signs that he who is mighty has done great things for us.

Solemnity of Saint Mary of the Cross (McKillop)
To celebrate the Feast of St Mary McKillop, the Church has wisely chosen a Gospel text from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. It is perfect. It touches on the aspect of Mary’s life that led her to sanctity. In the face of many challenges, she recognised that all beauty and goodness comes from an unfailing trust in God. There can only be one place for one’s heart. Nothing should lead us away from that place.

"If you want to... Of course I want to!" - 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B
Jesus encounters a leper, who is ostracised from society, regarded as ritually impure yet recognises Jesus' authority, convinced that Jesus can heal him. Jesus' response breaks through the evil of ill-health and of man-made taboos. Jesus does not want to be simply known as the miracle worker from Capernaum - he came to break down divisions, bring joy and to lead all followers of Jesus to the same mission.

An Authoritative Teaching That is New - 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year B
No longer alone, Jesus teaches in the Synagogue in Capernaum. All wonder at the newness and authority of his teaching. He overcomes the presence of evil in the demon possessed man, even though the demon knows that Jesus is "the Christ of God." Jesus shows that he is bringing in the Kingdom of God by overcoming the power of evil my his more powerful divine presence, in word and in deed.
