Last week Kulintja Kutju held Workshop 1 of the 2026 Leadership Program in Yulara, bringing together Aṉangu leaders from across the NPY region.

The first workshop focused on Leadership of Self - building confidence, strengthening connections and creating space for participants to reflect on leadership, culture, responsibility and community. Across the week, participants took part in group activities, discussions, storytelling and On-Country learning, while also hearing from leaders who shared their own experiences and journeys.

A huge thank you to all of this year’s participants who travelled from across the NPY region to be part of the program, and for bringing so much energy and openness to the first workshop.

We also want to sincerely acknowledge the Leadership Program facilitators - Mark Campbell, Reshaune Singer, Brenda Douglas, Frena Jacob and Tanya Lucky for bringing so much of themselves to the workshop - their stories, experience, humour, knowledge and deep commitment to Aṉangu leadership.

A big thank you also to Sammy Wilson for taking us out On Country with Patji Tours, to Voyages and Nyangatjatjara College for hosting us, and to all of the organisations and employers who made it possible for their staff to attend. Special thank you to our media partner, NG Media for helping with ongoing learning and development of the program.

We are very grateful for the strong start to this year’s program and look forward to coming back together for Workshop 2 in July.

Protect Yarnangu! An important health message

High school students from across the NG Lands recently came to Irruntjyu (Wingellina) for their senior camp and that included a first time visit to our music and radio studios. These are the broadcasters and musicians of the future! Shout out to the students, their teachers and other organisers! ( and the Ngaltutjara-Mantamaru Reggae Band for the soundtrack!)

Phyllis and Peter working on Community Resource Centre (CRC) photos, creating an archive photo folder in Irrunytju (Wingellina). Maybe you want to come and work with us in our other CRC’s? You will be helping your community to use computers for modern communication and for fun and games too. We use computers for almost everything these days - except for maybe going out bush :)

And we can’t do it without our translators!

Tony worked really hard today to translate a script into Ngaanyatjarra language. Sometimes the English scripts just don’t make sense to Yarnangu, so we need translators to help convert the words to something meaningful and useful.

If you’re a Ngaanyatjarra and English speaker in Irrunytju, Papulankutja, Mantamaru, Wanarn or Warakurna and want to get involved in this work too, get in touch!

Walykumunu Tony!

We can’t do it on our own! Daniel, Darren and Dave (L-R) are working behind the scenes to make our radio available to the whole NG Lands and our streaming service that takes our radio to the world. Daniel specialises in radio technologies. Darren was on site when our Irrunytju / Wingellina centre centre was built in 2008! And Dave is well know throughout the Lands for his telecommunications and satellite skills and knowledge.

Our media workers make the programs and content while these three members of our NG Media team make sure you can hear our local music, stories and culture.

Tune in on 107.7 FM or click the streaming link in the comments.
