I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who came down to the Mandurian Stories: Diversity book launch!

It was incredible to see so many people getting involved and coming down to support the launch. I am so grateful to live in a community that values the arts so greatly, and honoured by the contributors that shared their amazing works with all of us.

Mandurian Stories is, at its core, intended to hold the passions and stories of the people who are part of it. Whether the works inside are non-fiction works about things that happened to the creator, or entirely fictional ones displaying the creator’s creative interests in mediums, themes, or genres, Mandurian Stories is an exploration and exhibition of the things that are important to people. Thank you to each and every one of you who shared your passions in Mandurian Stories: Diversity, and I hope to see you all again in next year’s Mandurian Stories!

I want to give a massive thank you to the musicians that came down and provided us with live music during the launch. Electrical Hazard, Ashley, Georgia, and Azalia Turner; thank you for sharing your passion for music with us. It was amazing to hear you all play!

I would also like to thank Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and Mark Labrow for their support during the creation process, and for allowing us to use the beautiful ManPAC venue for the book launch. As a major local hub for the creative arts of all varieties, I could not have imagined having the launch in a more thematic and wonderful location.

I would also love to give a massive thank you to the John and Bella Perry Foundation, whose generous support made this possible.

Thank you to JT Media, for the incredible photographic skills that captured the launch! All the photos in this post were taken by JT Media, and you can find more of his work or book him for your own events at www.jtmedia.site .

Another thank you to Live_Lighter, for providing the delicious catering on the day!

And finally, I would like to give my thanks to you, the person reading this. Projects like this don’t happen if people aren’t interested, or if people don’t take part. I appreciate you showing the interest and reading through this post. I appreciate your time, and I hope to see you all next year – either as a contributor to next year’s Mandurian Stories, or as an attendee to the launch coming down to support our amazing community.

Congratulations to all of the contributors in Mandurian Stories: Diversity!

Not long to go, now! 😊

On the Afternoon Programme at 1.20pm today, Jenny Seaton will be speaking to Xanthe Turner, editor of ‘Mandurian Stories: Diversity’.

Xanthe Turner began planning this anthology in 2018, inspired by her love of Mandurah, and the people who live there. Shape Mandurah breathed vital life into the project, and Mandurian Stories was born.

Xanthe shared her vision with her community, and her community shared back. Mandurian writers, artists, and children collaborated to create a tangible manifestation of the creative spirit of Mandurah. The words and images in this book contain fragments of lives, facets of experience, and aspects of unique understanding. The common thread, woven through each page, is a deep-seated appreciation for Mandurah itself.

Every Mandurian deserves immense recognition for the time, passion, and effort involved in creating Mandurian Stories.

International Women’s Day is a time for us to contemplate progress in gains towards equality. This year's theme is ‘Changing Climates; Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’; a goal I believe we can achieve.

On Sunday, the Zonta Club of Peel celebrated International Women’s day with guest speaker Jo Abiss, a truly inspirational woman. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend, for health reasons, but I would like to personally thank Michelle Cox, Paddi Creevey, Nicky Hooper, Sue Fyfe, Tamara Mott, and the Zonta Club of Peel for the roles you all played in nominating me for the Young Woman of Peel Award. I am blown away by the dedication and generosity of everyone involved. It means so much to me personally to be selected as co-recipient of this honour, alongside Megan Humble, and I hope I can live up to your expectations!

Huge congratulations to Megan Humble, Penny Ericson, Lynn Rodgers, Nene Belag, and Rachel Larsen for your respective awards. We are lucky to live in a region with so many amazing women!

Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!
