It's International Day of the Dog 🐶 so meet our beautiful Pricilla 🩷
She's a gorgeous three year old German Shepard who joined our family about 6 weeks ago. I did not want a big dog lol..... but I absolutely love her.

We were only able to save this account because the hacker must be a ‘baby hacker’ and didn’t log Gina’s client out of all devices.

And yes it was a learning opportunity as we tried to figure how the f**k these scumbags are doing it.

Disappointing is that Meta is aware of their ‘back door’ entry but hasn’t been able to stop them 😣

‼So the latest scam is where a hacker creates a duplicate profile of one of your "friends", then sends you a message telling you they have been locked out of their account and asks you to click on a link and send them the code.
1️⃣ This message is not from your friend ❌
2️⃣ This message is from a hacker (most likely in Vietnam)✅
3️⃣ The code they want is actually an authentication code to access your Facebook profile, then link your real profile to a fake Meta-Quest or Meta Horizon profile they have created in your name‼
4️⃣ The minute you send the code to them, they will change your password on your Facebook account, add their email to the account as the primary contact and you lose everything 💥

Even Meta is not on top of this scam and it is very hard to reverse it. Jo from That Social Chick and I have spent most of the afternoon today, trying to figure out how to recover one of my clients facebook accounts and BOY have we learned a lot about this scam.

WFT is Meta-Horizon or Meta-Quest anyway 🤷‍♀️

Well Jo and I had not even heard of Meta Horizon or Meta Quest until today either ... but it is a social Virtual Reality (VR) platform which allows you to connect with other people online to play VR games and interact and communicate in VR spaces. It is is not available to Australian users at this time, however it was incorporated into the Meta stable in 2022 (formally is was OculusVR prior to the Meta buy out and re-branding).

We managed to recover my client's account - but we still can't remove the linked Meta-Horixon account or the hackers contact email, as the Horizon account has been set up by the hacker and has a different password to the facebook account.
What makes it worse, is that we can't even report the Horizon fake account 🤦‍♀️ as Meta Horizon and Meta Quest are not available to Australian users (as mentioned before).

Jo and I accessed lots of articles on this scam today and discovered that even Meta is at a loss on how to fix this - so the important message here is DON'T EVER SEND A LINK TO ANYONE!!

In regards to my client, I have messaged Meta with screenshots of the hackers email address and showing that it is linked to a Horizon account and requested it be removed ... so we will see what their response is 🤞

This is the 3rd person in my circle now that I have heard this has happened to and each one said they were 'busy and distracted' when they received the message from their "friend" and didn't look at it properly. This is deliberate on the scammers part and the timing of these messages are usually between 5-6pm Aussie time - when they know most of us are busy.

Please be vigilant ❌NEVER❌ click on any link in an email or message or text, even if you think you trust the sender. Most importantly ❌NEVER❌ send a code to anyone by messenger. If is it something weird or dodgy looking from a 'friend', call that friend to make sure its it something they have sent before you click on any link.

Feel free to spread the word amongst your friends, so people are aware!

Man I love my job! Got to visit and meet Ian from YET Woodstock QLD this morning with the team from Community Bank Logan.
Firstly, YET are doing great things in our community! With their 300 acre property they are supporting our youth with many outdoor projects being run. Behind us is the set for a Hollywood movie that was filmed not long ago - which was pretty cool to see.
Secondly, awesome work Community Bank Logan for funding a vehicle for Ian and his team to use!
