The North West Film Festival is a festival for young people from rural communities interested and actively engaged in creative digital and analogue screen media. The Festival provides young people with the unique opportunity to showcase their work, assess the work of their peers, work with industry professionals and celebrate their achievements. It is open to emerging filmmakers, students, young p
eople and community members from isolated rural communities across the New England North West region of New South Wales. It provides the community, which has limited access to cultural activities due to geographical isolation and socio-economic factors, with the opportunity to take part in a unique cultural experience. The purpose of the festival is to encourage people to tell their own stories as individuals, groups, or communities. A film submitted by students and made with community involvement must have had the majority of its creative decisions made by school or TAFE students. It is above all, about having fun and learning at the same time. The North West Film Festival is a celebration of what can be achieved by people who believe in their rural community and its future.
