Mark your calendars for a special day of community spirit and remembrance at the 9/11 Commemorative Game, happening on Saturday, 7th September 2024, at the South Pine Sporting Complex in Brendale from 9am - 7pm.

In honor of New York’s emergency responders, Queensland’s firefighters and police will go head-to-head in a series of sports, all taking place at one venue. This annual event celebrates the dedication of our local heroes while offering a fun-filled day for the whole family.

Highlights include:

• Vehicle displays from fire and police departments
• Rides for the kids
• Giveaways and raffles
• Food trucks serving up delicious bites
• Performances by pipes and drums bands

Bring your family along for a day of excitement and show your support for our firefighters and police as they compete for a good cause. With free entry and plenty to see and do, it’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Event schedule is still TBC.

🚴‍♂️ Community Call to Action: Help Complete the Samford to Ferny Grove Cycle Link!

Local resident Harry Audus is calling on the Queensland Government and City of Moreton Bay to finish the incomplete Samford to Ferny Grove Cycle Link. This project, meant to create a safer route for cyclists and pedestrians, still has hazardous gaps, especially on Petersen and Camp Mountain Roads. A proposed solution involves acquiring land on Petersen Road, but swift community action is needed.

🚨 Calling all Upper Kedron residents we want to hear from you! 🚨

The Ferny Grove & Upper Kedron Residents Association is urging everyone to sign their parliamentary petition to amend the Ferny Grove-Upper Kedron Neighbourhood Plan. The current plan restricts the proposed southern connecting road between Upper Kedron and Mount Nebo Road to emergency vehicles, buses, cyclists, and pedestrians only. This means residents won’t be able to drive on this future road unless the Neighbourhood Plan is changed.

It's crucial to note that the State Government can only consider approving a full-service road if the Brisbane City Council chooses to apply for it first.

Echo News is doing an in-depth story on this issue, and we'd love to hear from you! If you have a quote or any information you'd like to share, please email
[email protected], we also welcome input from The Gap residents too!

To sign the petition, visit the link in the comments below👇🗣️

🍃The beautiful Bunyaville trails are open again following this week’s planned burns 🔥

You can now access Policemans Break, AS6 Break, sections of Northern Break, and Mountain Bike tracks 2 & 3 (Jurassic & Gum Nuts).

🙌A big thank you to Queensland Parks & Wildlife for executing another well-coordinated back burn. These annual hazard reduction burns help lower forest fuel loads and create a mosaic of burnt and unburnt areas, reducing the intensity of future wildfires and promoting natural forest regeneration.

Remember to stay informed about current bushfire warnings and incidents with updates from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

to the 1930s, when the much-loved The Belvedere stood in all her glory. If you've been by recently, you’ll notice she looks quite different now after the recent renovations.

We had heard down the grapevine that a local gentleman purchased the block next door for just 100 pounds before the bridge was built!!!

Anyways here’s a bit of history about the old girl👇

The Belvedere started as a boarding house in the 1890s before being converted into a pub and hotel in 1901. It quickly became a popular spot for locals and tourists, offering stunning views of Bramble Bay. Over the years, the Belvedere has undergone several renovations and expansions, evolving into a modern venue while preserving its historic charm. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and community spirit, the Belvedere Hotel remains a beloved landmark in the Redcliffe Peninsula.
