Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in parts of Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt Forecast Districts.

Issued at 2:04 pm Saturday, 20 January 2024.

Isolated severe thunderstorms in the southern interior.

Weather Situation: isolated severe thunderstorms are developing in the south of the state.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include St George, Dirranbandi, Surat and Mungindi.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:05 pm.

We are still looking for Expression of Interest from girls born from 2007 to 2011 who wish to play Rugby League in 2024. It doesn’t matter whether you have played before, or this would be your first experience at footy.

Preference is given to girls who reside in the Outback areas from Chinchilla and Alpha and everywhere west from there.
What we have organised for this so far is.

Under 14 and Under 17 teams from the Outback entered in the Adrian Vowles Cup 23 and 24th February if you wish to participate.
There are also days organised in Mitchell on the weekend of 4th May and Blackall on 25th May where you will learn more about how to play the game with many drills and skills by quality coaches. You can attend both or one it is your choice.

This year the Qld Outback Teams will be playing the Rees Orman City Country Cultural Exchange in Miles on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd June.

To be eligible to play in Miles you will need to attend two of the three mentioned weekends.
