Fascinating project at the back half of 2023 to generate copy & edit cattle breed, Simmental Australia's annual publication. Plenty of interesting learnings about cattle breeding, international pathways for Australian breeders/participants; and talking with some of the people ingrained in the breed. Definitely a new area to explore!

ads - celebrities were back bigger than ever and the narrative of the ads wasn't close to the predictions from the industry in the leadup. Best on ground by far was Uber Eats (complete with Gwyneth Paltrow and *that* candle; Budweiser was outstanding (interestingly, the beer campaigns were all very female focused, including Michelob ULTRA with Serena Williams and others); I really loved the ex*****on Meta deployed, exploring the crossover from reallife into NFTs and the Metaverse. 5G was big among Verizon and T-Mobile - both had a big crack with some awesome pieces.
The big takeaway for me though, aside from the female skewed beer ads, was automotive companies - with the exception of TOYOTA, everything was laser focused on electric vehicles (that Chevrolet Silverado is HOT!) - Arnie and BMW won the vehicle wars though!

Props to NASCAR for going out on a limb and taking the Clash to the people in LA! and Ice Cube performing in the LA Coliseum on a temporary track was unique and pretty cool. Did the traditionalists like it? Watch the Ice Cube half time performance - the LA event types were all over it...as for the traditionalists 😂. 70% of the crowd had never seen NASCAR live before, therefore the sponsors and manufacturers in the activation zone were talking to people they probably never have. Was the racing any good? Not really. Was the show any good? Absolutely.
Moral of the story - go where the audience is, hang it out and do things different. Build it and they will come!!

This project in Toowoomba, already a Motorsport town, looks absolutely mega and would be tremendous for motorsport at all levels - international circuit racing, international motocross, international karting - and a 40,000 capacity concert amphitheater - not to mention an international airport next door!!

They say the day you stop learning is the day you die! Well, today's lesson - be careful what words you use when communicating across multiple languages!
We used a noun as a descriptor in a release - all good in English. Thankfully, made a last minute decision to check the translation...so lesson learned! Don't assume what you think is something common will translate the same way!

"Survival is the New Success" - Awesome and very timely quote from Jerry Seinfeld in a recent podcast with Tim Ferriss I listened to today - love it!
The podcast is well worth listening to if you are a writer or in any creative type gig. Some very funny stories, along with a great insight into his creative process and some applicable hacks. Really enjoyed it.
