Lumholtz meets a Lumholtz
Lumholtz meets a Lumholtz:
A delightful, historical and educational occasion occurred at Lumholtz Lodge on Wednesday.
As everyone in North Queensland knows, Lumholtz’s tree kangaroo, which is native to the Atherton Tablelands, was named after the famed pioneering Norwegian anthropologist and explorer Carl Lumholtz who studied these delightful creatures in the early 1880s.
Well, Lumholtz's great-great-grand nephew Robert Lumholtz-Smith of London swung by LUMHOLTZ LODGE to meet wildlife carer, the wonderful Margit Cianelli, and, for the first time, come face-to-face with the tree-kangaroos that bear his famous relation's name.
Tablelander editor David Anthony captured a special moment on video with Margit introducing Robert to Dobby at Lumholtz Lodge yesterday afternoon.

Drone footage of Mt Emerald Wind Farm
Mt Emerald Wind Farm's first wind turbine was completed on Sunday after the three 16 tonne blades, each 57m long, were positioned in place atop a 90-metre tower.
The milestone follows the raising of the project’s first towers last week. Each tower is made up of four separate sections and is anchored to an 800-tonne concrete and steel foundation using 168, 36mm bolts.
The turbine’s 120-tonne nacelle, the box that houses all of the generating components in a wind turbine, and is as big as a shipping container was also craned into place.
