In its heyday Wynnum was the shopping hub of South East Queensland, with three cinemas and the pavements bustling with activity at the weekend. With the arrival of large shopping centres (think Garden City, Carindale, Capalaba) people who lived in the South East of Brisbane found other places to shop and visitors to Wynnum dwindled. Wynnum has got such a lot going for it and is a great place to vi
sit – the foreshore is always packed with people at the weekend (but they often don't know that Wynnum Central is 300m up the hill!), and very few come into Wynnum Central after midday on Saturdays as they know most (but certainly not all) of the shops, cafes and restaurants are closed. This is changing as the central shopping area continues to attract interesting and diverse shops and artisans. Plus with the new cinema complex now open and new bars and cafes opening on what seems like a regular basis, and new developments going up, Wynnum is already rediscovering its mojo! Our aim is to keep you up-to-date with all the exciting and interesting things happening in Wynnum here, and liven things up with the odd competition and giveaway.
