The February issue of Retail Pharmacy Assistants e-magazine is now live!

In our first issue of RPA for 2023, we cover Children’s Health and the key health topics related to children and teens to help ensure they thrive throughout the school year.

With features including topics such as hives, head lice, type 1 diabetes, sun safety, beauty, mind and movement, and mental health and wellbeing, we arm you with relevant information and guidance as you work with parents, children and teens who come into your pharmacy.

We also feature the importance of keeping teachers healthy throughout the school year, and explore the latest advice on keeping energy levels high and the immune system strong, while considering the back-to-basics approach when assisting customers on their health journeys.

Hear from our 2022 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year national award winner, Terri Bakker, who offers healthy tips for the school class of ’23, considering supplements, nutrition, physical activity, first aid and sun safety. We also chat with our 2022 PATY state and territory winners to get their insights on how we can all stay fit and healthy in 2023.

In our first PA Profile for 2023, we meet Louise Joseph from Priceline Pharmacy Albany Creek in Brisbane and learn about her career highlights, challenges and tips for other pharmacy assistants.

For this issue we also spoke with Helen Sykes, Director and founder of Powerhouse Pharmacy Brands, about the company, the brands it works with, and the services it offers that are relevant for pharmacy assistants.

While the new school year can be an exciting time for many, those children with speaking and language difficulties may find it challenging, to say the least. This month we raise awareness around this issue and speak with Language Disorder Australia’s Head of Allied Health, Lisa Quinn.
