MURAL REVEAL! 🎨⭐️🙊
This one was a challenge as I had to work within a safe height on the edge of a balcony 🙀 And this wall was a new texture for me. Lots of learnings with this mural! Luckily my customers know me well - they were extremely patient and let me take my time. A couple of cute in their favourite doing what they love best: 💃🏻🕺🏻

Some exciting things are happening in the illustration realm for me this year! 😮 😮 😮
1. Exhibiting at Expo Metro in Barcelona
2. Exhibiting at the The Cartoon Museum of London
3. Exhibiting at the Incognito Art Show for the second year

AND something I've been so super excited to announce (still working through my creative procrastination and stage fright on this one) - I'm illustrating a children's picture book alongside fabulous author Julie from .thetaletrail and .remembers! More to come on that one - eep!

2025 marks 20 years since I entered the industry as a professional graphic designer and illustrator. Holy creative balls! It's been a ride.

People constantly tell me how lucky I am to be able to work for myself. They're right - I'm extremely fortunate to be working in an industry that gives me flexibility, control, and creative freedom. If my daughter is sick or bored or just wants mummy time, I can (usually) drop everything and spend time with her. I can choose my own holiday dates. I can take a mental health day. I can finish early and just put my feet up.

What people don't see is how hard business owners work. Where we take time away, we make up for it two-fold. Sometimes long hours, sometimes finishing a deadline at 2am, sometimes forfeiting social engagements, or exercise, or a healthy meal (chocolate is my desk staple). Not all the hours we work are billable. There's paperwork, admin, client relations, networking, marketing, social media, and all the rest. And (cue vulnerable divulgence) sometimes there's chasing money. Sometimes there's being chased for money. Business goes up and down. We go with the flow.

I'm no nurse, doctor, teacher, carer, single parent, cleaner, farmer, or any of those fabulously overworked and under-appreciated apples of society's eye. I don't put my life on the line every day at work. I'm just a gal creating things that sometimes make people smile. My only wish is that I can continue adding colour to a world which is already laden with bad stuff. And make people happy for a bit.

If you've ever taught me, worked with me, mentored me, given me work, paid me to create something, referred to me, helped me learn about business, given my work a compliment, shared my posts, hung my prints, lifted me up, encouraged me, given me a stern talking to when necessary, laughed with me, or celebrated small wins with me, I thank you. Wholeheartedly, I do. It's because of you that I'm still here and still loving my work. xo

My daughter started school last week. She bravely agreed that her best friend of 5.5 years (her comforter, BunBun) would stay at home. This is a big move for her, as they are pretty much conjoined twins. As a nice surprise, I designed her some BunBun pins, with an added love heart. She’s pretty stoked that she gets to be joined to her mate again all day 🥰

Last week I posted a mockup of my new business card, asking if it was cool or daggy to add my photo. Interestingly, it was one of my highest engaging posts in a long time! A lovely follower from the USA has ordered my calendar.
That might not seem like a big deal to some, but for me this is a milestone moment.
As a service-based business beginning to tinker in the product space, it’s always a bit daunting throwing your creativity at the world. But it’s such a thrill when people want it 😍
