They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them.

Wherever you are on the road today join us to observe the International Day of Peace. Take a minute of silence at midday.

Off course, we couldn’t go past a noisy cockatoo to help spread the word to join the Peace Wave.

Happy Australia Day from the team at Travel Yarns.

Whether you are enjoying a drive up the range, a short day trip, a longer track, or planning your next trip, take a moment in your day to consider what Australia Day means to you and yours. It’s a day to reflect, respect, and celebrate.

If you are looking for an event, head over to AustraliaDay.org.au to find an event new you.

According to AustraliaDay.org four in five Australians see Australia Day as being more meaningful than just a day off.

If your looking to extend your cultural knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of our First Nations people look out for Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann’s YouTube on Dadirri. She introduces the concept of our inner spring with deep listening, quiet still awareness, and waiting. This practice will help be more untuned with nature and increase your awareness. Not a bad skill for any journey.

Anyway, enjoy the day no matter where you are.

Are you ready for your next journey?

Port Douglas, just north of Cairns in far north Queensland is a tropical town on the Coral Sea. It's a great place to visit, whether you are travellong solo, in a group, as a couple or for a family. It is known for beach resorts and is a perfect place to set up base while you explore the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest reef system, or take the Kuranda train up to the Daintree National Park, a biodiverse rainforest. Strolling down Macrossan Street you'll find your perfect resort wear and meals at one of the many boutique shops and restaurants. Curving south is the popular Four Mile Beach where you can get lost and relax for the day.

It is devastating to see the ferocious bushfires in Fraser Island that have forced more than 30 crews of firefighters to come to the scene. Burning for over 6 weeks, the impending heat wave imposes further risk. As this occurs, let's remember to stay informed by following pages like QFES on Facebook () and Twitter () for all the fire updates. Otherwise, visit http://www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/map for a visual view of local fires.
