What we are looking for:
1) Models - must be able to take great pictures of yourself and your horse. Available to complete work within timeframes.
2) Photographers - equestrian experience a benefit but not a must. We have clients with a range of requirements (from flat lay to product and action).
3) Influencers - human or horse. Equestrian following. Large facebook friend base, good YouTube subscriber base, or Instagram likes of 3k and over.

As we wait to hear news about how many fires are out of control in the state, we ponder how together this country is in times of need.
After speaking with a couple of friends who are based in suburbia with no 'livestock to speak of (no, this isn't a city vs country rant), we discussed the slow down and struggle of many people on the farm and next, those with large animals to feed.
For a while now, we have felt a slow down in the equine economy (and regular retail also), with stores shutting doors hand over fist as sales plummet due to the cost of feed.
What surprised me is the puzzled look that spread across my friends face. 'Slow down?'... They weren't feeling it... as someone who works for a large corporate, and lives in suburbia, they didn't feel any economic slow down.
It got us to wondering about the divide before us...
We know farmers are doing it tough; on 30th November, river milk announced on social media that they were shutting their doors. Not the first farmer doing it tough, sure, but where does it stop?
And for anyone with horses that is buying horse feed (maybe with the exception of Tasmania), we are hearing of Lucerne prices upwards of $40 a bale.
When feeding livestock is so expensive, of course people can't afford thst fancy new set of boots, or the new season 'petrol' coloured saddle pad.
Despite news reports of retailers going into administration hand over fist ( ), and Boris walking the main street of Melbourne to show the copious amounts of stores for lease... can people still be unaware?
With the sky choked with smoke, the land around us burning endlessly, where do we stop and question everything we know. When do we change absolutely everything about our life? After reading posts on local mum's groups about 'buying a garden pressure spray systems' to wash the car, it has to make you wonder about the disparity between country and city.
We wonder what will burn next and how long until day 0 (When a town runs out of water), and others wonder 'what slow down?'.

Who are the companies that sponsor events regularly and/or attend events with their trade stands?

So we heard an interesting story the other day:
"I purchased 4 tops from an online store, who advertised a well known European brand, at a reduced price."
Would you believe that only 3 of those tops arrived? And that despite all of the best attempts to contact the store, no one has responded, no top has been received and no refund either.
OK, so this might be a rare story where something goes wrong, but I bet you have all heard a story like this. So we have put together a quick checklist to help you decide if you should trust a store that you haven't heard of before:

1) Do they have an ABN? You can easily check if they have registered their business in Australia (and are likely to be paying for things like insurance etc)
2) What does a google search reveal? Are there reviews? Star ratings?
3) Facebook has an enormous amount of feedback. Search for the business name, and look for feedback in your groups.
4) Ask your friends and close community - the horse world is small, and you never know what your friends might know.
5) Don't just look for the cheapest price - if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

Ok... it took us a while to figure out what was going on 🤪
Electric! That is the only word for the Polo International yesterday at the Windsor Polo Club.
If you didn't make it... well, you missed the event of the year! We have been reading post event reviews all day: 'the best day ever', 'fast and action packed'...
As we wandered the beautifully manicured grounds, past the carefully curated stalls, you could feel a certain excitement in the air. The loud speakers and the crowd were rapturous, cheering on the horses and riders as England battled Australia.
Every eye on the grounds was glued to the small white ball as it flew through from end to end. The competition was fierce!
Forget the Julia Roberts ideal of divet stomping, the Polo International modernised the stomp making it more treasure hunt than husband hunt, with giveaways for the divet-stomper that found the red champagne cork. A swanky spa day at the famed Vila Thalgo no less.
This event had an amazing atmosphere, where spectators were completely connected to every minute of the action. Make it a mission of yours - find out when the next Polo International event is and get to it!
Is live streaming killing the 'vibe' of our events?

Last year, you saw our recap of Show Horse Council of Australasia Grand Nationals, loving on all of the competitors and the atmosphere that makes it a great event.
In 2017, with the indoor arena full, 'Stand up for the champions' played over the loud speaker to crowds cheering on their feet. Even if you had no idea who the winner of a class was, you could not help but be moved by the tears of someone winning their first broad sash at Grand Nationals. There was truly something special about watching this event, regardless of your connection to the riders.
2018 saw 3/4 full stands on the final night, and this year, less again. The people that still attend are full of energy and excitement, but the decline in spectators at the event is having a huge impact on the overall 'feeling'. While it seems so simple, wine in hand tucked in to a blanket, to sit at home and watch all the action... you are missing out. Missing out on sitting next to the mum who just watched her daughter win Grand Champion Rider, missing out on having a shared experience with other equestrian enthusiasts, and missing out on seeing the greatest horse show event first hand.
While it may not all be about live streaming (maybe the cost of living and Australian drought conditions), let this be a timely reminder to go to events - support the competitors, support the events, and keep the 'feels' alive in our sport.
