Lots of people seem to dislike the rich or wealthy. Just becauseā¦
Itās weird when I hear this kind of talk come from parents.
At some point, that wealth had to be created, it took effort, know-how, and real direction for it to be created.
When we slag the wealthy or rich off, especially in front of our kids, what are we really telling them? Why even try to push them to be successful??
Scarcity mindset and victim hood is contagious, itās one thing to affect ourselves, but we need to remember that some may be watching us and forming their own narrative on the back of the things we say and do.

Lord Toranaga from James Clavells novel and recent series, ā Shogunā is the portrayal of Tokugawa Ieyasu the Samurai who reunified Japan at the beginning of the 17th century after a long period of civil war. Tokugawa family ruled Japan until 1868. His family were the ālast samuraiā.
I have long been fascinated with him as a leader and military tactician since I read the novel years ago.
Tokugawa Ieyasu was able to cement loyalty across the main through his adherence to Bushido. At the time many warrior samurai were not happy with the administrative samurai that were being led by his opposition. The warrior code is what underpinned his leadership.
He had a unique ability to customise his approach to meet and appeal to the individuals āwhyā, he really knew what made his people tick and how to extract the best out of them. He was able to do this but still maintain uniformity among his people on a macro level because they all were driven and underpinned by a strong interconnected set of values, all born from Bushido.
The lesson for me is to meet people where they are at, change your approach as required, but remember that this must all be cemented in strong overarching values that keeps the group together and aligned, even when disagreements on approach or tactics may arise, the whole wonāt fall apart.

Iām glad weāve moved away from the world of Simpsons as acceptable kids programming .
I remember wearing an āIām an underachiever and proud of itā shirt as a kid and it probably wasnāt the best thing that Homer choked Bart out time and time again. .
In our evolution towards insightful parenting we have now moved to the world of Bluey which I must admit as much as I love, Iām two minds about it.
On one hand it reaches for ideals in terms of parenting, reminding us whatās important and just how precious time with our kids are.
On the other hand, it represents the era of perfect parenting, one where parents never say no, the kids never really fight, and the kids are at the centre of all spontaneity and energy.
I have to admit whilst this show is lovely on so many levels, itās also guilt producing.
The reality is that children thrive when the parents thrive, children thrive when the parents invest in their relationship first.. and you know what, children should learn that they arenāt at the centre of everything, all the damn time.
Religion, Spirituality, Philosophy.
These are just some of the tools used to elevate morality.
There is an undeniable truth in human energies and the tendency for them to either point towards higher level or lower level frequencies. For most of us this is a daily moving target depending on where we are at with life, with people and with ourselves.
I have come to believe through the overwhelming evidence that I have been presented with that people that possess a process towards elevated morality are much more content and psychologically sound than those that donāt.
In our world of abundance and choice, it seems that people have become lost through disconnection and lack of real community, without having a process that moves them out and above their own s**t.
Iām by no means a religious person, but I do believe in our effort to become independent and āfree thinkingā we have totally thrown out the baby with the bathwater.
Faith and trust matter, community matters, transcendence matters.

Well kind ofā¦
Sellers if it feels too hard youāre probably overselling vs seeking alignment or true fitā¦
Cull more, get out of the tactical selling and focus on value creation.
I will live an analog life one day.
The digital world is exhausting, and as someone that has always moved at 100% pace and has always tried to be responsive to everything all the timeā¦ well letās just say the being on and accessible at all times has nearly driven me over the edge at times.
And as someone with a podcast and social presence, itās a challenge. But here is how I manage it.
1. I have no social media apps on my phone and delete them as soon as I post.
2. I only respond to social media comments once per week, as such I rarely engage on others content. Itās a sacrifice Iāve needed to make.
3. I pause emails and can only unpause them from my laptop.
The fragmentation of my attention through quick checks of emails and messages used to be debilitating at timesā¦ making mistakes, ineffective multitasking, lack of presence and a simmering never ending feeling of anxiety which was quite profound.
For years I thought the key was to do more meditation, and whilst thatās definitely helped the answer has been the following.
Plug out of the digital world, and plug into the one thatās unfolding right in front of me, itās called reality.
In running circles the name Prefontaine, University of Oregon and Nike are synonymous.
ā Pre ā was a rockstar in running and his life tragically ended well before he truly got going.
Known for his all in style he was dynamite to watch and always left his heart and soul out on the track.
I love this quoteā¦.for some they might see arrogance, and while thatās probably trueā¦more so, what I see is a guy that is making a public commitment to push himself and everyone around him to the very edge and beyond.
Thatās courageous.
Preparing our children for the future.
How well are we doing this through the lens of our educational standards?
As an outsider, itās hard to see what the innovation in education looks like.
Classes pretty much look and feel the same but as I have come to learn through firsthand experiences, debates are raging about education and different teaching philosophies.
As a businessperson who is rooted in outcomes, I can find navigating this world extremely tricky as research is abundant with so much credibility, but as with most research, there are countless contradictory perspectives.
Time horizons in terms of impact also vary with kids based on learning styles and other environmental factors. I have found the key is to be engaged with all stakeholders and continually assess progress, in this way itās no different to doing business.
My conversation with Guilia Cuzzilla provides some food for thought for those staring down the path of childhood education.

The quality of your child's education is changing.
Guilia Cuzzilla is my sonās tutor , she has been working with him over the past nine months to fill some of the gaps and strengthen some of his areas of weakness.
Throughout our relationship, I have come to realise that children across the country are experiencing challenges, and whilst this may have always been the case for years, I wanted to talk to Guilia about the educational system, recent changes, and the myriad of varying philosophies that can make navigating the process as a parent super difficult.
Guilia and I have had many robust discussions, Iām not laid back about the topic of our childrenās education, and I appreciate her passion and intensity when it comes to the subject of education and meeting me where I am.
I have learned throughout the last several years that culture has influenced the way we educate, some things are good, and many things are not so good.
As a parent, parent-to-be, or someone interested in the future of our children, I hope that you find that this conversation provokes some thought.

Imagine living life with Schizophrenia but having no idea. Todayās conversation is with a special guest, my childhood friend Dr. Apollo Ellis. He is known as one of Silicon Valleyās top programmers in the tech industry, but the road to get there was incredibly difficult. From addiction, depression and ultimately a diagnosis of Schizophrenia, his story is no short of a miracle, and certainly the outcome of a deep desire to be more in life. Apollo and I had shared in the madness of addiction and the streets as teenagers, we were truly lost in the wilderness. We were amongst the worst within our circle of friends. This conversation is very personal to me, and in many ways healing, and I hope that this was the case for Apollo too. **** What to expect in this episode: (00:04:24) ā Crime from early teens. The true power of reading. Some cultures revere books. Growing up in an Indian household we were told to never put our feet on books, we were always taught to respect books as source of knowledge, and in many ways the book was viewed as one in the same as the author, basically a teacher embodied in a book. As an adult, I can certainly appreciate this wisdom. If you think about it, a book is a hack, a distilled down recipe for whatever knowledge or insights you are looking to acquire. It is literally an āexperienceā on paper. That is powerful. Today's conversation is about the power of reading. The act of taking the time out of our day to sit with a book. For those that already do it, you might be interested in how your discipline is benefiting you. And for those of you that are looking to reconnect with reading, this conversation with Nicholas Hutchinson will give you inspiration and habits that could help you develop a regular habit of reading. *** Listen to the episode š https://link.chtbl.com/ultrahabits Watch it on YouTube š https://youtu.be/TMHQn5-dR7Y About Nick: š§ Nick Hutchison is the author of Rise of the Reader: Strategies for Mastering Your Reading Habits and Applying What You Learn and founder of BookThinkers, a growing 7-figure digital marketing agency that serves mission-driven authors. š» Nick has dedicated his life to helping millions of readers take action on the information they learn and rise to their potential through his books, speaking, and personal brand as a whole. #ultrahabitspodcast #reading #readinghabits #bookthinkers #riseofthereader
