Super Sandbag Weekends

150,000 sandbags have been packed for residents and businesses to collect across three consecutive ‘Super Sandbag Weekends’ to prepare for the upcoming storm season.

SES volunteers and/or Council officers will be available at each Super Sandbag collection site to provide practical advice on how to store and utilise sandbags for the best chance of mitigating flood damage.

Super Sandbag Weekends will be held on the following dates:

17 & 18 September, 9am – 4pm
24 & 25 September, 9am – 4pm
1 & 2 October, 9am – 4pm

Super Sandbag Weekends collection locations:

Darra - 38 Shamrock Road
Morningside - 9 Redfern Street
Newmarket - 66 Wilston Road
Zillmere - 33 Jennings Street

Residents are strongly encouraged to remain alert to emerging weather patterns by monitoring the Bureau of Meteorology website at http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/forecasts as well as make all necessary preparations for possible severe weather impacts https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/community-and-safety/community-safety/disasters-and-emergencies/be-prepared
