This Affable Life

Well hello, I’m David Ayliffe, some of you know me and naturally some of you don’t. I guess I’m a frustrated author, broadcaster and journalist as well as Marriage Celebrant and Disability Support Worker. Oh, and did I say I’m a married man of some 40 years with four magnificent human beings as adult children, some great partners and five wonderful grandchildren. This Affable Life, I’m calling your community building Podcast. We live in difficult times and curiously I managed to launch this after the fires and just before the Corona Virus changed our lives forever.

It’s never been so important for us to find positive supportive community and so through these interviews I will focus on people who are affable, kind and friendly, and they are making a difference in the lives of others and through that themselves.

Some of what I do may be political but you can be assured it will always be aimed at making our world a better more equal place for everyone. Feel free to contact me and post comments on this page too, especially about the podcasts or suggestions for other interviews.

I will also be featuring some audio books on this site including My Brother’s Eyes, which I wrote with my brother John about my life in a high demand fundamentalist sect. I told the inside story and he told the story from a family cut off from a son, brother and uncle. No wonder I believe in inclusive, friendly and life affirming families and groups.
