I almost chickened out of naming my small-business podcast Unemployed & Afraid 🐓because people [I trusted] thought it was too negative. Awks!
Here’s a story time of how I came up with the name and why I stuck with it 🥰

Ok now I'm not saying we all throw out the baby with the bath water (geez that's an awful saying) but if you've jumped on Threads, there's a chance you might be feeling the same sentiment I'm sharing in this post.
The reason I (Kim Kerton, aka @goodsideofthebed_ , aka your host) love the mediums of podcasting and writing so much is they get to the heart of connection and community, and they do it quite quickly, the core needs of most brand marketing endeavours.
When you add visuals into the mix, there’s often too much opportunity for “blocks” between you and just putting something out there – whether you’re stuck trying to find the right image to support what you're saying, or write words to match an image you want to share, or you’re overwhelmed by spending time planning, recording and editing reels (etc) there’s just too many blocks to sharing, and often too much time to overthink and dilute your message.
Reels, IG Posts, Stories, TikTok – they all have a place – but if you jump on Threads and feel empowered in your sharing, lean into it. I have a feeling it will help many of us find our voices.
