Morning all
Day 4 of our WILD THINGS Crowdfunding Campaign.
It's been a n interesting few days with both sides of the Tasmanian Government trying to clamp down on the film for promoting 'illegal activity' - read as those who want to raise awareness around climate action as well as defend the native forests of Tasmania. The timber industry's busy posting endless comments like "get a job" when we all have jobs. One of my goals for WILD THINGS is to change peoples perceptions about frontline activism.
So please donate if you can if you believe in the right to speak up and are against censorship of the arts. Our target is $35k by 20 October.

Vale John Moore I first got to know John when he lived across the road from me in Clifton Hill in the early 80's. He was a single Dad to Rebecca and Adam who were just small kids. They shared the house with Tony Wright. Back then John was making a living as a builder/carpenter but soon got involved with Open Channel and the heady days of independent filmmaking. Many of us cut our teeth on documentaries at Open Channel and John ended up being one of its Best General Managers. In the early 90's he produced BAREFOOT STUDENT ARMY with Catherine Marciniak, BLACK MAN'S HOUSES and HAROLD with Steve Thomas and more. He also directed documentaries including the terrific film about Bertrand Wainer ABORTION CORRUPTION AND COPS, and THOMSON OF ARNHEM LAND. John and I often got together to discuss our projects and often floated the idea of starting a company together. In 2006 it became a reality and we started 360 Degree Films. We found an office in Sydney Road Brunswick above the old Post office and John was amazing at how he built edit suites, organised the phone network and even got us into the first NBN trial for free. He was a fantastic business partner-always calm in the eye of a storm and no matter how busy he was he would stop to listen to an issue. I was busy making international documentaries like SEED HUNTER and TIBET: MURDER IN THE SNOW and John was forging ahead with important social issue docs like THE TRIAL and history docu dramas like MENZIES AND CHURCHILL AT WAR and MONASH. He was a tenacious producer and after he left 360 Degree Films produced the wonderful PUTUPARRI AND THE RAINMAKERS with Nicole Ma. Apart from being a filmmaker, John was an avid bushwalker, rock climber and cyclist. He always loved a good cup of tea and a piece of cake and was a passionate Collingwood supporter. John's wife Lesley has cared for John selflessly over the past six months and my thoughts are with her and with Rebecca and Adam.
