Jane Madden expands on some of the ways leaders and managers can support good mental health in the workplace in this episode of Reframe Of Mind.

Derrick McManus talks about his experience lying on the ground for several hours, knowing that his body was shutting down as he waitind for someone to be able to come and help him amidst the danger of gunfire.

We may never, hopefully, ben is that situation, but are there other circumstances in which you know optimism might help to keep you going?

A shout out to Brene Brown, whose work shows us just how important vulnerablity is, and Derrick McManus has a lot of experience in his own journey of vulnerability.

Those of us old enough to remember PM Bob Hawke will remember the ribbing he got from people far and wide for publicly crying, but that act of expressing emotion is important to reduce stress and to help us connect and relate to each other, which is a much stronger position than "nah, I'm right thanks."

How's your emotional bucket today? What does that even mean?

It's easy to get swept away in a good analogy (just ask Andy, he loves his markers in the sand and deck chairs!) but how does it actually fit your story?

Derrick McManus, talking about Human Durability on Reframe Of Mind explains that our bucket also contains processing space for what's being thrown into the bucket. If we fill the bucket up too much, we enter a space of overwhelm and find it difficult to process much at all, if anything. Maybe we 'snap'.

So what are some things you can do to keep that processing space available? Might it be making a strategy for something specific? Could it be making a list of things you need strategies for or simply to come back to later when you know you will have the energy to pay attention to it?

Have you considered that your comfort zone is where you are the most durable?

When we make a contingency to be able to bounce back after a crash, we usually conisider bouncing back from the very basics, which is a point of fragility.

Derrick McManus speaks in this episode of Reframe Of Mind about enjoying our comfort zones and making making them our safe place to slide back into as we step out and try new things.

Failure does not have to entails starting from scratch all over again. Follow us now for more conversations about and listen to this episode of Reframe Of Mind now on your favourite podcast app to find out why.

In the latest episode of Reframe of Mind, we talk about what motivates our desires for change.

Are we moving towards something we do want or are we moving away from something we don’t want? And do we really have to wait until we hit the ‘I’m f**king done’ moment before we act?

Got one of those friends who jokes about having to spend 40 minutes on the treadmill if they have a Mars Bar?

It's likely they're really good at weighing up long term consequences against short term gains.

If ever you're unsure about whether to have that next drink, smoke that next cigarette or plonk yourself in front of that screen, write down what the longer term consequence of that might be andcompare it to the short term gratification. Which one do you prefer now? WIll it change your decision in this moment?
