Interview 3 – Rishi Patel

Since graduating from the Essex County Cricket Academy in 2017, young promising right hand batsman Rishi Patel has been an exciting player to watch, currently opening the batting for Leicestershire in the Division Two County Championship. Patel made four Championship appearances during the Essex’s 2019 title-winning campaign, along with a List A debut during the Royal London Cup. After winning a call-up to the Essex first team and making many starts with the bat, Patel parted ways and signed for Leicestershire in 2020. Since the move, Patel has found more consistency at his new club, making regular appearances in the starting 1st XI. Just recently, Patel reached 1000 first class runs and scored his first maiden first class century against Yorkshire, making him one of the more exciting players to watch and follow in this season’s campaign. During this interview, I spoke to Rishi about his life and journey as a professional cricketer as well as discussing his past cricket experiences and future aspirations for his career ahead.
