TRAVELLIN' BLUE KINGS
The renewed "full Belgian" Travellin' Blue Kings line-up bears solid letters of
nobility and an impressive pedigree: Blues Lee, Howlin’ Bill, Rhythm Bombs, Fried Bourbon, Jim Cofey, Hideaway … just to name a few.
Travellin’ is not in the name by chance, these five gentlemen worked with their respective bands all over Europe. You could find them on festival stages in Norway, Sweden, Poland, Germany, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. And of course, in every corner of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Last year, the two Covid singles "Gotta Get Away" and "Too Many People" set the tone and demonstrated a critical view of the world's goings-on. The single "A Stiffer Drink" articulated once again a state of mind anno 2022 and rolled out the red carpet for the album "Bending The Rules", the synthesis of the passion
and ability of five gentlemen who have nothing more to prove. The title says it all: honest songs that aren’t necessarily painted within the dotted lines of the genre, but who simply fill themselves in.
In the meantime, the record has been very well received by the media and thealbum can count on quite some airplay in Europe ánd the States. To celebrate the release of the 12” vinyl version, the track “Hold You Horses” is now being put in the spotlight …

My name is Kiko Pereira and I’d like to introduce you to an exciting new blues band that is making waves here in Porto and beyond. We are called Kiko & the Blues Refugees and I am the lead singer and composer. Our sound is a unique blend of traditional blues, r&b with a touch of Portuguese soul, resulting in a captivating sound that is sure to delight your public.
What sets Kiko & the Blues Refugees apart from other blues bands is the use of current events for the songs lyrics and stories like “Sugar for your Instagram”, “Fake News”, “Giver” or “Poor man’s justice”. Our most recent single called “Doktor Doom” is a hypothetical conversation with a dictator (maybe someone invading a European country?).

COMBINING country rock and country blues, Mark Thomann’s “Plastic Flowers” is a mostly upbeat joyful album of songs, contrasted with two reflective ballads – “My Father’s Voice” and “Coming Back”.
Recorded over a three-year period, Thomann says, “Plastic Flowers takes a different angle on love and flowers as a metaphor for the transience of relationships.”
Mark has chosen some of Canberra’s finest musicians to play with him on the album.

Happy New Year! Hope that 2021 will be a great year for you and the people around you.
My name is Mikael Olesen and I am a Danish blues musician and member of the band Rosedale Bluesband. We have recently released an EP called ”Selfpity Blues” and we think that we have done a pretty good job.
The number of blues lovers in Denmark are limited and there are no blues radio stations. So we would like to ask if you will give it a try, and listen to some blues from Denmark. I am quite sure that you have never done that?
As I wrote, the album is called "Self Pity Blues". It is also the title of one of the songs on the record. It's a slightly hilarious depri blues which is about the fact that sometimes self-pity is the only pity you can get. It’s inspired by a quote we always tell at our concerts – ”Lovers of the Blues are only happy when they are sad”. 😀
If you like what you hear we would like to ask if you will play the song on your radio station? We would be very proud to have our music played on your amazing radio station.
