Health Breaks

‘Health Breaks’ are brief 2 to 10 minute breaks taken by employees individually or with others where they may undertake some physical activity or learn about an aspect of healthy living, such as healthy eating, social wellbeing or mental health and wellbeing.

The concept is that taking One Health Break Daily will leave employees feeling energised and equipped to make the small changes in health behaviour that have a big impact on long-term health and wellbeing. Health Breaks consist of engaging health and wellbeing experiences delivered to employees in the form of Healthpods. These are visual and audio presentations custom made to ensure employees are engaged in a meaningful way that enhances their physical, mental, nutritional or social wellbeing. Participants are motivated and encouraged through a fun, gamified system whereby they set their own targets for maintaining their Health Breaks daily habit ongoing. Rewards points are awarded for achievement of milestones providing additional incentives for employees to maintain their engagement.

Health Champs play an integral role in linking the Health Breaks digital tools to the workplace. Health Champs are peer health ambassadors situated in participating workplaces. They are volunteer employees with a passion for health and wellbeing. A digital version of the Health Champ appears on the app and plays the role of support for users.

PROBLEMS WE SOLVE: Two of the main barriers to adopting and maintaining healthy behaviours are lack of time and inconvenience. Making health accessible in short bursts in a format that can be done anywhere at any time overcomes these barriers. Most people find it easy to start a new behaviour but are not successful at maintaining the habit. Health Breaks are delivered in a fun way with motivating games that are designed to sustain engagement. Rewards and incentives add to motivation and the optional link to Charity will provide a greater depth of meaning. Digital health apps on their own have limited effectiveness, especially long-term. Our Health Champs bring our digital solutions into the real world, offer a connection between the workplace and the virtual world and help to personalise the experience.
