Are you a NSW business owner?

The NSW State Budget has been delivered with a deficit of $16.6 billion, the aim to reduce to $11.3 billion next financial year and a return to surplus expected in 2024-25. The biggest focus addresses the key cost of living pressures with reforms to housing affordability through stamp duty (particularly for first-home buyers), childcare accessibility and education performance, aiming to boost productivity and workforce participation and underpin demand in the economy.

What percentages of small businesses fail?

UTS: University of Technology Sydney notes in studies
• 1 in 3 small businesses in Australia fail in their 1st year of operation
• 2 out of 4 by the end of the 2nd year
• 3 out of 4 by the 5th year

The Australian Bureau of Statistics record from June 30 2021 there were
2,402,254 actively trading businesses in the Australian economy, with
277,674 exiting businesses.

Construction and building are in the top three industries with the largest net increase in businesses, increasing from 16,603 to 410,839 businesses in 2021.

What does any of this mean? The data shows business is bloody hard - especially for Aussie tradies - but there is also hope. How can we make this work for us?
