From 'Python':

"She cut open the python’s belly and pulled out her husband’s partly-digested body. Which is better: this, or catching him with one of the mistresses. Seeing them laid out, spouse and snake side by side, she had to admit that she didn’t know who to feel sorry for."

"Rarely has a person not given a f**k about
The sum values of the European spirit
Understanding, monuments, advisability, superiority,
Inferiority, Michaelangelo, Bardot,
Discourse, guardianship,
Rarely
Without having to give in exchange
A square acre from his sole."

The legendary Pi O is launching his new book of poetry, The Tour, at Brunswick Bound on Tuesday the 26th of September at 6pm. The book details, in the author's inimitable style, his experience on tour with other Australian poets in the U.S. and Canada in 1985. But it is also, Pi O tells us, "a history of performance poetry, racism, and class struggle, in Australian literature and how it was informed and practiced. you’d be maaaaaad not to come."

LAUNCH DETAILS:

Where: Brunswick Bound, 361 Sydney Road, Brunswick
When: 6pm on 26 September

The Tour is available at all good bookstores or direct from Giramondo Publishing at https://giramondopublishing.com/books/pi-o-the-tour/

Congratulations to Shirley Le on her delightful debut novel! Funny Ethnics is a refreshingly satirical second-generation migrant story that charts the travails of Sylvia Nguyen, caught between the cultural norms of Australia and the expectations of her Vietnamese family. Le is a member of the Sweatshop Literary Movement. Funny Ethnics is published by Affirm Press.
