No, Telegram isn't being deleted by Apple
Following the arrest of Pavel Durov, Telegram's co-founder and chief executive, baseless rumours have begun recirculating on social media about the future of the messaging platform.
Posts on X, which claim Apple will remove Telegram from the App Store and from mobile phones, reuse images that were first shared when the hoax emerged in 2021. At the time, both Apple and Telegram denied the rumours.
On numerous occasions, Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has claimed that nuclear power is “used by 19 of the 20 biggest economies in the world”.
But a look at the data reveals this isn't the case.
Five other G20 nations — Germany, Italy, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia — do not generate nuclear energy. Of these, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia do not consume any electricity generated by nuclear sources.

Foreign states have been accused of weaponising misinformation as violent protests continue across New Caledonia.
The demonstrations, which emerged after France decided to allow long-term French residents to vote, have led to the deaths of nine people — including two police officers.
An investigation by Viginum revealed a concerted misinformation campaign by social media accounts linked to Azerbaijan’s ruling party, which experts describe as highly unusual.
“We have seen some examples of information operations being conducted in the region from external actors such as China and Russia during times of unrest or election periods, but this is certainly the first time we have seen reports of Azerbaijan spreading disinformation in the region,” Australian Strategic Policy Institute analyst Blake Johnson tells AAP FactCheck at the 🔗 in our bio.
The 14-year old boy who allegedly stabbed a university student on Tuesday morning was arrested and charged for a separate incident last year, which was later dismissed in court.
NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley made the revelations on ABC Breakfast on Wednesday, saying that the teenager “had been attending one of the programs that the Department of Community and Justice run out in New South Wales”.
The authorities have ruled out religion as a motivating factor for the alleged attack, which saw a 22-year-old man at the University of Sydney stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife.
The victim was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition, and as @australianassociatedpress reports, has since been discharged.
Australians are being subjected to government-mandated food rationing following bird flu outbreaks in Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, according to an article published online.
But while supermarkets have introduced purchase limits, the claim that these restrictions are government-mandated is baseless.
Here’s why.
Six Victorian poultry farms have detected cases of avian influenza, leading to a surge of misinformation online about the risk to food supplies and impending COVID-style lockdowns.
AAP FactCheck was able to locate dozens of outlandish claims on Facebook, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), including theories the outbreak would be used as a pretext for the World Health Organisation to declare martial law, or that bird flu was being deliberately injected into animals.
However, scientists and industry experts have dismissed these claims as baseless.
In addition, given Australia's geographical isolation and the difference between the H5N1, H7N3 and H7N9 strains, they say the risk to human health remains low.
In an advertisement on Facebook, New Zealand's former health minister Ayesha Verrall appears to promote a new treatment for hypertension.
Except it's not actually her — the video is a deepfake, made by scammers using artificial intelligence to recreate her likeness.
In a video circulating on social media, Nine News anchor Peter Overton and Treasurer Jim Chalmers appear to feature in a Nine News report promoting a new investment platform. The audio has been edited and replaced with artificially generated speech.
It's an example of how scammers are leveraging AI tools to replicate the voices — or in some instances, the likeness — of notable public figures.
Fortunately, there are some ways to spot these scams.
Here are the red flags to watch out for.
In response to questioning by One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts, Pfizer representatives told Senate Estimates that a separate batch of COVID-19 vaccines had been imported for its employee vaccination program so as not to diminish government stocks.
An article by a United States-based misinformation website claimed that the representatives went on to admit that this "special batch" materially differed from the vaccines administered to the Australian public.
But a look at the official transcript reveals that Pfizer's spokespeople said no such thing.
