Bangor Bypass single vehicle accident 3/03/2024

at approx. 4:45am Emergency services responded to reports of a MVA persons trapped East bound on the Bangor Bypass. On arrival Police and emergency services found a white sedan in the bushes with major damage and deformation to the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was not trapped and luckily escaped serious injury. The driver was treated by NSW Ambulance at the scene and was transported to Hospital in a stable condition.

The vehicle was removed at approx 7am, all lanes East bound are now open

BREAKING - Grays Point Boat Crash

A young lady has been transported to Hospital in a CRITICAL CONDITION after 2 boats collided head on near Grays Point. The young female was thrown from the boat into the water where she was found face down for nearly 5 minutes. A passing boat pulled the female out of the water and commenced CPR. The patient was brought to shore at Grays Point Boat Ramp where emergency services were waiting. NSW Police es**rted the Ambulances with a green light es**rt all the way to Hospital

BREAKING - 2 Houses Destroyed by fire in MIRANDA - 26/12/2023

2 Houses have been destroyed by fire in Clifford Road Miranda. It is alleged that the first house was engulfed in flames from a BBQ at the rear of the property. The fire then spread from the number #29 house to the exposing roof of neighbouring house #31 fully engulfing them both in flames. Fire and Rescue NSW called for a 4th alarm response to knock down the pair of houses. Firefighters in BA surrounded both houses to ensure no further spread to any other exposures.

NSW Police and Fire and Rescue are still on scene of the blaze, they will remain there for many hours into the night to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

Alfords Point Road Re-Opens - 24/12/2023

Alfords Point Road was closed for over 45mins after a car became disabled after driving through flood water. Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 90 Menai and NSW SES City of Sydney responded to the scene to assist with the disabled car.

The occupants remained in the vehicle until emergency services arrived. A firefighter unclogged a block drain which led to the rapid descent of water off the road. Emergency services waited on scene until the vehicle could be safely removed from the roadway.

Taren Point Flooding - 24/12/2023

NSW SES Sutherland Shire & NSW SES City of SydneyResponded to Taren Point Rd, Taren Point after heavy rainfall flooded the area. Multiple lanes in both directions of Taren Point Road were closed off by the SES to insure drivers did not drive through the flooded area.

We advise to be extra cautious when driving near flood hot spot areas after heavy rainfall.

Christmas Day is likely to see storms and heavy rain again tomorrow. With the Festive traffic to increase for tomorrow, drivers will most likely encounter dangerous driving conditions during the storm.

Loftus Bush Fire - at approx. 2:45pm 26/09/2023

NSW Rural Fire Service and NPWS responded to a smoke in vicinity call just off the Princes HWY in Loftus. On arrival firefighters found an area of grass and bush alight. With quick action by the crews, the fire was contained and extinguished within a short amount of time. Police are assisting NSWRFS with investigating how the fire started. Suspected arson is one of the lines of inquires.

Drunk driver closes Heathcote Rd after crash
- at approx. 8pm 25-09-2023

emergency services were called to Heathcote Road, Engadine, following reports of a single vehicle crash.
Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and located a Ute towing a trailer that had collided with a guard rail.
The driver 55-year-old man was uninjured and subjected to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station.
His licence was suspended, and he was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for the offence of alter concentration of alcohol before test- first offence.
He is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 9 November 2023.

Bonnet Bay Hazard Reduction 3-08-2023

NSW Rural Fire Service have commenced a 28.47ha Hazard Reduction in Burnum Burnum Sanctuary. The goal of the burn is to reduce threat to houses on the bush's edge of the Bonnet Bay area. With a El Nino summer predicted by the BoM, the NSWRFS are taking advantage of the nice weather to catch up on Hazard Reductions around the Sydney Surrounds.

The Hazard Reduction will burn long into the afternoon. Except smoke smell and ash to be present throughout the rest of the week.

NSW Police were called to a home on Hakea Street, Yarrawarrah, following reports of a domestic violence assault. Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command arrived to find a 41-year-old man locked within a home with 2 dogs.
After a 7-hour police operation with the assistance of specialist police the man was arrested and taken to Sutherland Shire Police Station to assist with inquiries.
Inquiries are ongoing.

Emergency services responded to reports of a car crashed into a tree on Sir Bertram's Dr, on Arrival crews found a man trapped inside the Porsche. Firefighters began to extricate the man by cutting into the vehicles side. Doctors from the Bankstown Medical Retrieval Unit responded by helicopter to the scene to assist with the accident. The man was stabilised by paramedics and was flown to St George Hospital. Police are investigating whether speed was a factor.

Fire and Rescue NSW Responded to a school bus on fire on Anzac Rd Menai. On Arrival crews found a bus well alight outside Holy Family Primary School. Firefighters in breathing apparatus commenced an external fire attack whilst other Firefighters entered the bus to confirm no students were still inside. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and U-Go authorities arrived to investigate.

Emergency services responded to North Cronulla where a person was reported to be adventuring nears the water's edge next to the rough surf when an onlooker lost sight of the person. NSW Ambulance activated a rescue helicopter from Bankstown to assist with the search. The search was suspended when emergency services believed that the person did not enter the water and is not missing.

Woolooware Missing Persons Search

NSW Police have begun a search today with the assistance of NSW SES Sutherland Shire and NSW RFS Sutherland District to locate a reported missing person in the Woolooware/Towra Point area. The recluse person lives on a boat in bays area, emergency services were notified when the boat had been found moored in the mangroves. Last confirmed sighting on the person was at 2:30pm 8-6-2023. It is believed that nothing suspicious has happened at this time.

BREAKING - FATAL POLICE PURSUIT

Critical incident declared after man dies in crash – Menai
Friday, 16 June 2023 07:23:15 AM

A critical incident investigation is underway after a man died in a crash following a police pursuit at Menai today.

Just after 6am (Friday 16 June 2023), an officer from Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a utility on Alfords Point Road, Menai.

The driver allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the utility collided with another vehicle before coming to a stop.

The driver of the utility, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Alfords Point Road is closed in both directions with diversions in place.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and make alternative travel arrangements.

An investigation has commenced into the incident by a Critical Incident Investigation Team from Sydney City Police Area Command.

Those investigations will be subject to an independent review.

Anyone with information or dashcam vision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Kirrawee Unit Fire - at approx. 10:45pm 12-6-2023 Fire & Rescue received multiple calls to a unit alight on Flora St. On arrival Firefighters were confronted with flame through the roof of the unit block. 2 people believed to the owners of the unit were treated by NSW Paramedics and both transported to St George Hospital.

Bundeena Persons Trapped Rescue - at approx. 3:45pm 11-6-2023 Fire & Rescue NSW Responded to reports to a man trapped in a car hanging off a cliff after crashing through a garage. On arrival emergency crews found a car hanging off a small embankment with the driver still inside the vehicle. The man was trapped in the car for a short time but was extricated by the assistance of NSW Ambulance and NSW Police. The man escaped with no injuries and declined transportation to hospital.

Man Critical after House Fire in Engadine - at approx. 7pm 8-6-2023 NSW Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire on Dobell Road, Engadine. On arrival crews found a bedroom fully involved in fire. After containing the fire to the room, firefighters located an unconscious male. CPR was performed on the male by firefighters and paramedics. Paramedics managed to successfully revive the male. The male was placed into a medically induced coma by the Bankstown Medical Retrieval Unit. He was airlifted to Royal North Shore burns unit. Fire Investigators remain onscene to find how the fire started.

HEATHCOTE ROAD REOPENS - at approx. 8:30pm 1-06-2023 Emergency crews responded to a motorcycle v pole on Heathcote Rd, Sandy Point. On arrival crews found a man ejected into the bush from his bike after hitting a pole from a sign at 80kmh. Heathcote Rd was closed for almost 2 hours in both directions causing major delays for motorists whilst paramedics stabilized the man. He was transported to hospital with lower body injuries and is in a stable condition.

On arrival crews found an elderly lady with significant burns to her facial area, airways and throat. The cause of the explosion was believed to be from an oxygen machine. She was placed into an medically induced coma by Doctors from the Bankstown Medical Retrieval unit. She was then transported to North Shore Burns unit. A second male patient was assessed by Paramedics after he suffered burns to his hands trying to help the elderly lady.

With the difficult extrication, Specialist Operations paramedics were called to assist Fire Rescue with the rescue. The worker was transported in a Stable condition

Taren Point 2nd Alarm Fire - at approx. 9:30pm 14-4-2023 Fire and Rescue NSW Responded to a call of smoke issuing at the Kennards Hire on Taren Point Rd, Taren Point. On arrival they found smoke issuing and had trouble gaining access to the structure. The origin of the fire was a high pressure washer in the rear of the premises. The fire was extinguished and the complex was appropriately ventilated.
