SUTHERLAND STABBING/ARREST
A man is in police custody after an alleged stabbing at Sutherland overnight. Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were called to Flora Place about 9.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 18 September 2024), and found a 72-year-old man being treated for a stab wound to his right chest by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
He’s been taken to St George Hospital where he’s reported to be in a stable condition. Officers chased a man on foot in Kirrawee before he was arrested with the deployment of a Taser in Flora Street.
The 33-year-old man was also taken to Sutherland Hospital to be checked as a precaution before being released into the custody of police and taken to Sutherland Police Station. He has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and resist police. He’s been refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 19 September 2024).
