It's been an incredible journey working on this gritty and intense crime drama series, collaborating with the talented director .andrew.banks of and the textured frames from , cinematography at its finest.

I never imagined I'd get to be part of something so dark and powerful! Can't wait to take on the next one-- leave the drama to us :D

!!HOLGA!!

A follow-on from the adventure in Vanuatu, I took an old camera with me to capture some candid snaps along the way. I decided to take an old-school camera with me and it was so much fun! What I love about these types of cameras is the grainy, out-of-focus shots they take, making each photo unique in its own way.

It reminded me of the first time I used a Super 8 camera - something about the mechanics, the noise, and the feeling of holding the camera in my hand put me in a whole different creative mindset.

Or was it the fact that you only had 3min of footage on that whole roll of film and every frame HAD to count!!!!

# FILM FILM # #

Today marks 16 years since that incredible experience in Vanuatu! 🤩It was such a privilege working with the legends Jim Lounsbury and Jennings. Even though I was born a few years too late for the full film experience, they convinced me it was still possible within our budget and we made it happen 🤩

We produced a few amazing short stories (TVCs) and that old 2-perf camera and scraps of film stock, I'm forever grateful for that experience. Here's to 16 years and many more! 🥂

The majestic tones of the mountains always draw me in, captivating me with its wild allure - an adventure just waiting to happen!

Sharing this experience with my brother and son was next level and I couldn’t be more proud of how they both faced the elements and challenges with stoic power.

Kicking off any hike with 2hrs sleep isn’t a great way to start, but 24hrs after leaving Newcastle train, plane, car and then hiking through muddy moorlands, enduring a 1000m steep ascent and then a little traverse and descent into our campsite was brutal. At some point around 1 am while we were still wearing shorts and reef shoes (our idea for beating the wet/muddy tracks) I was certainly reconsidering my decision and need for adventure - snow falling on a crisp -11 degree night on the exposed saddle was not so much fun.

The first two days were the entree to what would become a fun jigsaw puzzle, trying to work out where the track was, negotiating the many crevasses and walking cliff-hugging slippery mud trails. Still, under the constant cover of cloud and rain, we were gifted moments of light and the reward of seeing the range and what we’d already overcome. Ironically, our final day was a wonderfully warm, full sun-powered hike off the slopes and across the moorlands again. The way the track is designed, you are literally paraded past the entire range again, allowing a final few hours of marching through mud and trying to figure out how you actually accomplished those few days on the range.

22 summit passes later… we did it and what a ride, quickly planning and dreaming about the next one once we’d made it back to the car park.

It was an incredible experience working in a foreign country on a foreign film! I'm eternally thankful to Moon and his team at Zoom Post for taking the chance and flying me in to colour their first feature 'Hung Ali'.

I literally had to imagine exactly what the plot of the film was due to the language, which made the experience that much more interesting. Very different style of storytelling and the things these guys achieve with very few resources is unbelievable.

Zoom Post in Saigon offered a cutting-edge suite for DI, with Christie projection and a powerful Resolve setup. Most importantly, the DI suite was opened onto their in-house cafe and restaurant... Trà Đá and Cà Phê Sữa Đá all day long.

BUT, above all, it's always the beautiful people you get to work with. So kind, generous and accommodating to this white boy.

What crazy international work situations have you found yourself in?

Giving is always better than receiving and I've been reminded of this more than ever after meeting a Christian minister, Joel, in Vietnam. His selflessness and genuine care for others inspire me to give back and help those around me in any way I can.

After spending a bit of time together I was invited to join him on a trip to the outskirts of Saigon to an orphanage. The brief was simple... join in whatever is happening, have fun and play!

This blurry photo captures the moment perfectly. Words can't put into perspective the intensity of love that is drawn out of you to these kids, and you just want to keep giving!

Whenever we're in Saigon, we always make a point to visit Joel and his church, but sadly last time we were there I learnt he'd suddenly passed away only months before we arrived. Still to this day when I think of him, I see his wonderful soft smile while he welcomed and loved the people of Vietnam with all his heart. He served and gave his life for them in the most humble way, a way in which I hope to also live. While I stood in this final church service after learning about his passing the song Build My Life was being sung, which was a perfectly fitting prayer.

And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me"

There's something special about the spontaneity of taking a trip, hitting the open road, and rekindling that drive to explore, appreciate the beauty of nature, and fall in love all over again.

I learned that sometimes the best things come out of breaking away from routine and exploring what the world has to offer!

One day I'll be able to share the full story, but this trip represents so many beginnings. One being... the shagnes adventure. In a nutshell, we aim ridiculously high, put impossible timelines in place, close our eyes and go for it! Definately a recipe for memorable experiences.

Exploring new horizons: Working on a film project in Saigon was a journey full of adventure and unexpected discoveries. It's been great to make a little life in this city and it truly has become my home away from home!

The wonderful team at ZOOM made my stay incredible and welcomed me with open arms. This was really the first time I'd gone into a completely different culture, and they made it super easy. Thanks and the team for an unforgettable experience.

**CONTRAST**

From the boys who dreamt of being high-stakes art thieves, to the ambitions of today - Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers has been inspiring us to chase our dreams.

My first break into working internationally was a feature film to be coloured at post in Saigon. An unlikely opportunity which I jumped on and took a chance to see what it was like and experience another culture. I know this isn't saigon... but it was the first layover on the way, had to take the chance to do a quick run between flights.. Didn't dissapoint

Colour grading isn't just about making films look good, it's about bringing them to life! 🎬 Working hard to hone my skills and create beautiful stories 🤩

Never too old or too experienced to stop learning! Last year switching tools for a couple of feature film projects pushed me into a new space and forced learning. Although tools are all "similar" sometimes it only takes a change in environment to bring new inspiration and processes.

Those who know me, know that I love a good vintage lense and allowing all the natural artifacts to play with the light in unusual ways. I'm forever being drawn to these very imperfect lenses and shooting style. I managed to get my hands on some super old original Kowa anamorphic lenses. Wild at the best of times, then you try and run-n-gun with them...

I LOVED enjoyed collaborating with the Soorleys on this one. We produced a very natural, chilled out and authentic feeling music video for their tune "The Time Song".
Thanks for bringing me along for the ride.

My partner in mischief, art, love and life - loved working with you these past few weeks creating some stunning stories and more....

​I can't describe how much I've missed the way we work together. Usually we're found somewhere in the middle of a small village in a distant lands working tirelessly together for days on end. We love the relentless travelling, strange food and filthy places, but even more than that, it's the people and experiences with them that are the real treasures.
​
​We haven't had the opportunity to do much of our usual work this past year with all the borders closed. But these past few weeks have been the closest thing we could have dreamed of.
​
​This little series was captured during an amazing project we worked on with our good friends and others. Loved the experience and hope we get to do more together soon.
