If you watch my video of this sunset you will understand how important this moment was for me. What image is your favourite? The one with the sunset light on the sea stacks or the images taken later with the pastel sky ?

This is down on Gibson steps and these sea stacks are called Gog and Magog, they tower 40m out of the water and it’s been a mission of mine to capture a burning sunset here for a long time.

Shooting stitched panoramic images on the coast brings with it some technical difficulties, you see I’m taking 4 or 5 photographs from right to left and because the waves are constantly rolling in , it’s near impossible to line them up in between shots. This is why I have to control the light coming into the camera with filters to slow it down enough so that I can achieve a slow shutter speed. This then blurs the waves into each other making stitching the panoramic easy later in photoshop as you won’t have any harsh break lines where the image aligns to the next. The down side of this is that you generally don’t get any cool wave patterns but it’s a pay off im happy to make to achieve a high quality photograph

My life is a constant battle between the desire to explore and the urge to settle. I find myself endlessly searching under an open sky, pushing boundaries, and redefining what it means to be free.

Through it all, my Breitling Avenger Chronograph B01 44 is built for the extreme, marking time as I chase the next adventure.

Back at home base after a couple months out searching for images. Thousands of kilometres covered across Australia from outback desert to coastal and even some rainforest. Australia has a great diversity of landscape but if I had to pick a favourite it would be the remote parts in the centre, the landscape is very minimal but the colours are magical.

Already eager to get out there again and see more !

Here are a select few images I captured along the way.

A simple decision to drive 1000kms into the middle of the New South Whales outback has left me in complete awe of this incredible Country.

The idea to visit Mungo National park was based all around the chance to see the full moon rise over the ancient sand dunes of Lake Mungo. Lake Mungo is a world heritage site that holds incredible history of the first Australian Aboriginals. The most significant discovery out here was when the perfectly preserved remains of a human ( Mungo Man ) were discovered and after analysis it was found that this man was over 40,000 years old !! This discovery changed aboriginal history forever.

On arrival I was met with searing 45° heat , it felt like walking into an oven, still I was eager for the arrival of the moon. Having waiting until sunset now the mood had all changed with dark skies above the wind picked up dramatically, it was like a sand storm! This was game over for day 1

Not one to give up the next day I explored the back side of the lake where white sand dunes form from the constant wind that blows across the dry lake bed. The mission to capture the moonrise had now become a mission just to get a sunset but I never expected what I was going to whiteness that night.

I could see all the ingredients of a good sunset brewing, high whisky clouds. I took my time to find an interesting composition that gives this ancient landscape justice, choosing to focus on what they call residuals , there pretty much ancient sand sculptures formed over thousands of years and eroded away from wind and rain. The sky exploded with colour so intense it looked photoshopped! Hands down one of the best sunsets I have seen and to capture it over such an important landscape simply left me in total awe .

There is always an element of unpredictability when shooting landscapes, most times you just quite don’t know what your going to get. Arriving here at wreck beach I instantly knew the sky was not what I wanted but since I drove 2.5hrs to get here I thought I’d shoot it anyways. This was definitely one of the most unique landscapes I have captured because it’s not every day you get to see an old ship anchor stuck in a rock pool and just left alone in the elements. I will be back here again for sure !

Whilst visiting the Snowy Mountains earlier in the year we where lucky to experience this incredible weather where we where completely clouded in ! This cloud transformed the landscape completely and shooting these snow gums in these conditions has been a very memorable moment for my landscape photography career. Although everything looks peaceful here in this image I can assure you that it was quite the opposite. Standing the the sleeting rain waiting for the perfect time to press the shutter was very testing but well worth the numb feet and fingers.

Explore places that make you feel small , let go of your ego and and realise that there is something bigger at play, something we can’t control and something that just leaves us questioning how?… spending a few days exploring Blackdown Tablelands National park had reminded me that we are so insignificant in this word . If we are lucky we will live past 100 years old yet the land we all walk on is millions of years old . Human life is so short , so live your life the way you want or at least try and if you ever feel lost then go to a place that makes you feel small and reconnect.

One of my favourite times of the month Is when it’s a full moon and the best way to experience this is to watch the moonrise over the water. The setting Sun timed perfectly with the rising moon creates this beautiful ambient light that is soft and calming. This moment on Four Mile Beach will be with me forever

New release - Four Mile Beach -

Four Mile Beach is such a quintessential North Queensland beach, a place I have photographed a lot but I have always had the vision to capture this beach in a way that brings back a classic old school Tropical vibe . I needed a row boat but waiting around for a boat to just be sitting in the right place at the right time was impossible so I decided to get my own but finding an old row boat isn’t that easy either so it took me about 8 months of searching to find the boat and the oars. The next step was waiting for the right conditions and after a few weeks I was extremely lucky with a break in the weather after a week of solid rain. I probably looked like a mad man dragging this not no light boat down the beach but nothing was stopping me from capturing my vision ! Crystal clear skies allowed the rich warm light of the rising sun to paint the sore line and bring life to a new day in the tropics.
